I requested tickets from priceline.com to travel off-peak (evening hours), on Tuesday, to join my family for vacation in NY. I am not able to travel with them for departure on Saturday previous because of work demands.

I received confirmation fro tickets to travel Tuesday 11:30 AM.

I called the 1-800-340-0575, and explained that I could not travel during the day as I had to work that day; mind you there is no place to note what travel times the consumer needs to fly. I wasn't going with my family as I don't want to risk disciplinary action from my job.

Jim said that there was a possibility that under special circumstances and with his supervisor approval that exceptions have been made, but that there would be a $75.00 charge which is the price that I offered for my tickets so... I explained that I would like to speak with the supervisor, he again explained that the charge to remove this was the same as my offer price (total cost equals $119.00 I still could save $44.00). told him that's ok I want to speak with the supervisor...he told me to hold on...2 minutes later returned to the phone and told me that his supervisor would not approve this...HOW COLD...MY JOB IS ON THE LINE...I told him that I want to speak with the supervisor and that I was willing to hold. He told me that his supervisor is too busy and had lots of calls to return. (He had no trouble reaching the person...if in fact he ever spoke with the person at all). he again mentioned that the cost is the same as my offer price, and then started quoting stuff like "non-transferrable, non-changeble, and non-refundable.

Jim gave me the impression that those words was an agreement that the airlines placed on them. After I got Jim's ID # and his supervisor's name "Melt," would you believe that for a name?, I called the airlines that I was booked with, they told me that there was nothing they could do about the tickets, that that was completly under the control of Priceline.com.

I am disputing this charge with my Credit Card company. I hope they are more understanding about my circumstances than Priceline.com.

By the way I got a direct flight ticket for $45.00 more that the total cost of priceline and it will take my 1 1/2 hrs. rather than 5 1/2 hrs. and if something comes up for $75.00, I can change my reservation.

No more pricline.com for me. I WILL TELL ALL MY FRIENDS ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE WITH

PRICELINE.COM.

PLEASE HELP ME GET MY MONEY BACK!

I read the comment about the person not happy with Priceline because of flight times. I used priceline for the first time last month when me and my 2 friends bought airline tickets from Phoenix to Cancun. We got a reasonable fare-not as low as I would have liked but about 50.00 per ticket cheaper than hotwire, expedia, gocancun, etc.. and I continuously checked airfares on these sites and we wound up getting a good deal. Although we didnt get the best flight time either direction, we were open on our flight times and knew we didn't have a choice in time. The rules and policies are CLEARLY stated on the web page that flight times and airlines will be announced after you buy your ticket. . Anybody who doesn't read this it is their own fault. Sorry but read throughly before you hand over your credit card number. My parents also got an incredible deal on a car rental through Budget on Priceline. They wound up saving about 75.00 for the week on a midsize up in Detroit. So...before you use priceline, read the web pages throughly and know that you MUST be open on your flight times, and be prepared to fly red eye or have a layover somewhere.

This email is a rebuttal to RipOff #1686. It was sent by Joe Martinez at [email protected]. INCONSIDERATE PRICELINE.COM (#1686) They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report: Their email: [email protected] Their name: Joe Martinez Their relationship to the company: Supporter Rebuttal: In support of Priceline, they DO very clearly state their policies on their site. NEVER make an offer on Priceline unless you are REALLY available to travel at any time of the day. Since their policies and procedures are clearly explained beforehand, you should have KNOWN that you could have gotten a daytime flight. They are under no obligation to give you your money back.
