Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

This company told me everything i wanted to hear to get my deposit. My family was moving to Michigan from Colorado. As I started the process, Walter from Presidential Van Lines all but hounded me every day for 6 days working out the details. He promised me a semi truck and four movers as I own a lot of pinball machines and arcade games along with music equipment and a houseful of stuff.

On the sixth day I signed a contract and put down $1,000 deposit as he had been telling me everything I wanted to hear for a week now. I hear nothing for the next few weeks so I call them to make sure they will arrive as planned. Then 24 hours before the move they call and tell me my $5500 estimate is now $11,250 AND they are sending a 20 foot box truck with one mover.

They have my inventory and have to know all my things will not fit in such a small truck. WHAT A SCAM! I ask to speak with Walter and am informed he has been fired. They refuse to refund my deposit even though they are not giving the service they promised. I end up firing this UNTRUSTWORTHY company, fly back to Colorado as I'm already in Michigan working, rent a 26 foot Uhaul and trailor, and make the move myself leaving various items behind. Horrible and stressful experience and am still refused my $1000 deposit. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND NOT USING THIS MOVING COMPANY. THEY ARE LIARS AND SCAMMERS!!!

Yes, the guy made a great number of promises he could not deliver, but then if you had looked up this mover's MC number, you would have known they had no access to a air-ride tractor and trailer to move your items.

Having said all of that, the only way a professional mover would have delivered a semi to your location is if the semi can fit into where you happen to live in Colorado for origin and again in Michigan for delivery.  If the semi didn't fit either at origin or destination, then the mover would have provided a shuttle truck to deliver the items from the house to the semi; you may have never seen the semi your items would have been delivered in.  The whole process involving an air-ride trailer (you call it a semi) is not cheap.  Had you used a professional mover, I suspect the cost of the move may have been about $15K-$20K or more and your items would not have been the only items in the trailer.  The notion you could move maybe one-half a semi full of articles from your home for $5500 is not even close to reality; in the online world of moving there is no reality regarding the moving industry because everyone online is a liar.  Unless someone actually comes over and sees what needs to be moved, there is no one who could accurately quote you a price for a move.

In Colorado, depending on where you are, you would have had access to one of the better movers in the country who would have professionally moved all of your items, including the arcade games.  I mean it still would have cost you a lot to move them, but it would have been moved.  You would have also had a more realistic picture of what the cost was.

On the sixth day I signed a contract and put down $1,000 deposit as he had been telling me everything I wanted to hear for a week now.  The deposit in a situation like that is non-refundable.

I ask to speak with Walter and am informed he has been fired.  If they lied to you about everything regarding the move, what makes you think they actually fired old Walter?  Once the sale is complete, the guy moves on...

Moving is not an inexpensive venture - it is a laborious process in which there is no automation which only adds to the cost.  If you choose the wrong mover, the process will cost you far more in the long run in broken and lost items, than if you had simply gone through the yellow pages, find a local mover, get a real idea as to what the cost of a move would be, and paid the cost upfront.
