Complaint Review: Poise Modeling Agency - New Haven Connecticut

THE COMBINATION OF A DISGRUNTAL EMPLOYEE, AND A MODEL THAT WAS UNWILLING TO GIVE MY COMPANY A CHANCE HAVE MADE THE FRONT PAGE OF THE NEW HAVEN REGISTER. THE STORY IS BASED SOLEY ON ALLEGATIONS. THE INDIVIDUALS THAT TOOK PART IN THIS WERE SUCCESSFUL IN CAUSING ME DISRUPTION IN MY LIFE. POISE MODELS HAS SUFFERED A HARD HIT FROM THE BAD PRESS, BUT ITS GOING TAKE ALOT MORE THAN THAT TO STOP US FROM REACHING THE TOP. ISSUES THAT THE PUBLIC NEED TO KNOW: ONE, LEAH RAFFEL STOLE PAYROLE CHECKS AND FORGED MY SIGNATURE TWO, LEAH IS GOING TO BE PROSECUTED TO THE FULLEST EXTENT OF THE LAW. THREE, ANGELA BIASE IS A YOUNG LADY WITH NO SELF-ESTEEM. YOU CANNOT BRING YOUR OWN SELF ESTEEM UP BY HURTING OTHERS. FOUR, THE ALLEGATION IS THAT WE DID NOTHING FOR ANGELA, ANGELA HAD A PHOTOSHOOT WITH THE BEST PHOTOGRAPHER IN THE AREA, SHE HAD A CD AND A MOVIE MADE. SHE PARTICIPATED IN HAWAIIAN TROPICS COMPETITION (SHE WAS A FINALIST). SHE PARTICIPATED IN A RUNWAY SHOW AT THE ENCHANTED GARDENS IN HARTFORD, SHE PARTICIPATED IN THE FASHION SHOW AT MYST LOUNGE.ANGELA AND HER BOYFRIEND STEVE GOT HIS AND HER POISE MODELS SWEATERS. FIVE, ANGELA FEELS THE NEED TO CONTACT ALL OF THE GIRLS THAT WORK FOR POISE TO PROVIDE A HELPING HAND TO THEM. "ANGELA THEY DON'T WANT TO SAY IT BUT THEY DON'T LIKE YOU, STOP CALLING THEM." SIX, EVERYONE THAT WORKS FOR POISE WILL BE SUCCESSFUL.. ANGELA IT TAKES TIME TO MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. SEVEN, ANGELA BIASE IS BITTER AND FEELS INFERIOR TO THE OTHER GIRLS THAT WORK FOR POISE. EIGHT, NO ONE LIKES ANGELA BIASE OR LEAH RAFFEL. NINE, IF ANY ONE WOULD LIKE TO SEE ANGELA PHOTO'S WE ARE SETTING UP A SCREENING OF HER PICTURES ON LINE, WE HAD TO AIRBRUSHED THEM SO THEY LOOK GOOD. TEN, THE ONLY PEOPLE GETTING HURT ARE THE MODELS THAT WANT TO CONTINUE.

did you ever think that maybe this is a phoney name and address. Please EVERYONE IF YOU WANNA KNOW MORE ABOUT THE SCAM, CHECK OUT THE NEW HAVEN REGISTER FROM LAST WEEK, AND ITS ON THE FRONT PAGE...............Nuff Said FOOS

First off, I find it extremely bizarre that this intensely belligerent post came from Alabama. Poise is a relatively new company, and is ran from offices in New Haven, Ct. Models are scouted and signed locally - mostly within CT, but as the establishment grows, I foresee that talent will more regularly be obtained from neighboring states, as well. How has this unnamed individual "poise" (that is what they so intelligently typed in the box set aside for your name) come to be so jaded by a small agency in Connecticut??! As I stated above, Poise is a very new company. It was started less than a year ago, and I have been represented by them since its inception. As with all new businesses, Poise has encountered its share of issues and bumps in the road. Any issues have been dealt with professionally and with a genuine measure of concern for all affected. Personally, I do not feel that those who run this company are "scam artists" or "professional liars". That accusation is absurd. The owners and investors are businessmen with a long-term vision for an agency that is unique and superior to all other modeling agencies. Of couse they want to make money -- thats what businessmen aim for -- but they are in for the long haul, not a quick buck. If the models make money, they make money. Its in their best interest to find their models work. Its that simple. Equally absurd is the claim that the only work they offer is liquor promotions. That is simply not true. Liquor promotions are offered as a means for models to pay for their pictures and/or make extra money between jobs. In addition, intelligent, enterprising models will use these promotions as an opportunity to meet people, to network among other models and area business people. It takes TIME to get "REAL" work ---- time to lose a few annoying extra pounds, time to schedule photoshoots, time to chose the pictures for your comp cards and portfolios, time to touch-up and edit these photos, time to submit pictures to castings that are appropriate to your own personal look. Poise has been around less than a year. That is barely enough time for 20 models to accomplish all of the above and actually be chosen for jobs, let alone over 200 models. It can be frustrating to wait, and even more frustrating to be rejected, but such is the reality of modeling. There is truth to that old adage, "Patience is a virtue". But to really nail in my point - here are a few examples of "REAL" work some Poise models have recently been offered . . . - Several models have been chosen for a Harold's Bridal Fashion Show and pictures to be displayed at a local establishment, Amberjack's of Milford -One model, Priscilla, was chosen to be in Maxim magazine in the upcomong months. Maxim has also expressed interest in using other Poise models. -Another model will be featured in Seventeen magazine -Personally, I have been selected, among others, by Winc Promotions to vie for a spot in Pango Pango Swimwear's upcoming catalogue. The shoot will take place in Mexico with a renowned photographer and accomodations will be provided at an all-inclusive resort.

AS WITH ALL MODELING AGENCIES IN THE WORLD YOU MUST GO OUT AND SEEK WORK, WE HERE AT POISE HAVE OFFERED THE YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO WORK LIQUOR PROMOTIONS TO HELP THEM PAY FOR PHOTOSHOTS, PRINTS, COMPCARDS AND EVERYTHING NEEDED TO HELP A MODEL GAIN PROPER EXPOSER IN THIS BUSINESS. I DON'T DENY THAT THERE ARE MANY FRAUDLENT COMPANIES IN THIS FIELD, HOWEVER WE WOULD APPRECIATE NO NEGATIVE PRESS WHILE WE ARE TRYING TO HELP MODELS ADVANCE THERE CAREER.
