After years of getting letters I had won editors choice and being a semi-finalist with my poetry being published in a deluxe edition I finally sent in $145 in December '08 as a gift for my grandaughter as a poem I had written for her had won being included in the "immortal Verses" edition. The check was cashed and in my attempt to get in touch with them all I got was full voice mail numbers. I recently went to the wesite and it is now Lulupoetry.com with a note saying the doamin has been bought from a "failed company". This is an attempt to make it appear this comapny has no relation to Poetry.com but only purchased the domain. However, they are using the same email address, [email protected].

So, I did a Whois to see who the website is registered under and got the following. As you can see the domain name was registered to the same company as the person who changed the doamin name to Lulupoetry. There is a phone and fax number for them and I did call but once again you are unable to speak to anyone. I did manage to leave a voice message but non one retruns my calls. These people need to be STOPPED!!! Ripping off people and then starting a new site to do it all over again is criminal.

I have filed a coamplaint in Maryland and North Carolina where the registrant of the website is based and am in the process of calling my local and natioanl news to expose these people for what they are. While there are a hand full of people who did receive their books etc. there are many who did not and will not. Bel;ow is the information I got when I did the WHOIS on who registered the website.

Poetry.Com and also PhotoLauleates.Com are one and the same type of SCAM

Photo Laureates.com is just as bad if not worse than Poetry.com and it's sad that so many get ripped off by both of these organizations making a bundle off of people's emotions and "want to be talents". I was in the Talent Industry for well over thirty-five years and I thought I had seen it all in Burbank, CA with all of the 10% per-center agents as we used to call them. All they are interested in is the allmighty dollar and not all interested in your talent, your poems or your photos. The U S Department of Justice needs to take a serious look into this and get everyone paid back who purchased their dumb plaques, paid all the phoney fees, etc. Wherever you find talent you will find those whom are always taking advantage of the talent. It's a sin in my mind. I was always on the side of the talent all of those years in the industry and my mentor (un-named here) always told me that was the reason I wasn't a millionair and he was so right. I cared. I wanted to help "new talent". In Hollywood (Burbank) it is very difficult to be an honest agent/manager and make a decent living, let alone pay your expenses to stay in business. There is so much going on with even the casting directors with kick-backs and what not that it is plain highway robbery and parents of new talents especially need to be forwarned about their practices. Now, I find much of this going on in smaller areas such as Nashville and even Kansas City, MO. I can't believe what I'm seeing. The Internet has put a whole new bundle of money out there for the taking for these crooiks. The University of Phoenix in Arizona should be reported directly to Senator John McCain by everyone who has been cheated by that University. Senator McCain is one of the most honest and decent, hard working Senators who cares for anyone whom has been taken by an entity or corporation. George M. Kansas City, MO

I Wonder What's Goin On

I wonder what's going on with my poems. How can they change hands with me not being notified? Is LuLu poetry.com legitiment or just going to be making money off of books sold to people that have a poem in the book? I have had some bad dealings with some companies. I was having doubts about The International Library of Poetry because they never responded to letters. I was able to get someone on the phone at times but they were unable to answer my questions. My first experience with the National Library of Poetry (now called The International Library of Poetry or Poetry.com) was whan they contacted me about a book I had ordered from a Company called The World of Poetry. It seems they had bought out this company after it went bankrupt. They said the book had not been printed but they were going to publish it and send my copy explaining the format was the work of The World of Poetry and should not reflect on the way they would print a book. This was 1991 and I have had poems published in 18 different books and on the internet by this company since then. As you can see this company changes a lot. I have always recieved my books. There is also a CD set called The Sound of Poetry that I never ordered but they offered to put poems on several times. There was also offers for plaques with my poems on them but I never paid. Through the years I have recieved honorable mention several times, editors choice several times but never got high enough in the rankings to be a prize winner. The prize winner is usually the first poem in the book. I made to the first page in the last several books with no prize or reconition of the winner. There is also information about myself I paid to have put in these books that is now on the internet. I didn't know it would be that widespread. I also joined The International Society of Poetry (sister company of the International Library of Poetry). I submitted a poem to Worlds Largest Poem for Peace. I have been nominated several time for Poet of the Year among others. I would have to pay for whatever trophy or award, so I never recieved anything but the paperwork since I didn't pay anything. I thought the reconition was enough. I now wonder how many other books,cd"s,plaques, internet sites, etc. have my poems on them. I wonder how far it's gone now. Someone is making money. Are they allowed to print anywhere they choose once you give them permission to print in one book? Aren't they suppossed to get your permission each time? Do I have a case? Where do I turn? I need answers,I need help. Someone please give me some answers. Thank you.

I have just spoken to Leon Travis at Lulu Poetry. He states that they just purchased the domain name of Poetry.com 2 weeks ago and are in no way affiliated with Poetry.com. However ,when I questioned him about the same company registereing Lulu Poetry as had registered Poetry.com he had no explanation for it at all. I then asked him if ANY of the employees at Lulu were in ANY way affiliated with Poetry.com he said no. I for one would not take a chance again with my money and aspiring poets would be better off self-publishing their works. I am still in the process of trying to find an attoreny for a possible class action lawsuit.

I correct my comments to it "appears" that the new company, Lulupoetry.com is owned by or the website is run by the same company as Poetry.com until my investigation into both is complete. The original domain name was purchased in 1996 and then in March of this year changed to lulupoetry by the same person or company, (((Redacted)))for Lulupoetry is below and you can see the information is the same as for poetry.com.
