The Planet Beach in Bear is located right next door to my daughter's daycare. The staff and clients of this location are the trashiest sort of people I have ever encountered. They use foul language in front of children and drive their cars wildly through the parking lot. I have had at least 3 incidents this year alone where I or my car was almost hit by one of these people. Each time I asked the person to be more careful and the response was a loud stream of vulgarities, which is quite disgusting coming from young ladies that think they are special.

The owners have refused to stop smoking in front of the walkway where the babies and toddlers are walked every day, despite being asked politely. They have access to a back door which would not interfere with their own clients either, but they simply have no regard for others.

They also double-park in a lot which is frequently full, making it very difficult for people to pick up their children at the end of the day. After a while, some of us were forced to park further away from our child care center because of their double-parking. Our center director complained, but the staff did nothing. Then, when they noticed we were parking further away, they complained to the strip mall owner that parents were parking in "their spaces." If they had addressed our complaints in the first place, that wouldn't have happened! Luckily, the landlord told them they didn't own the spaces and we could park where we wanted. Obviously parents want to park as close as possible...if those spaces aren't available we have to park further away.

After the last near-miss today, I decided to call the police on each reckless driver I encounter, and I cannot wait for the officer to call me for my version so I can detail the months of issues. My children were both shocked at the curse words coming out of this young woman's mouth at their mother, and I am furious that the owners have such little regard for others in their own community. Simply disgusting.

I am the new owner of Planet Beach in Bear, Delaware. In response to the complaint of the Planet Beach employees, they are no longer employed here. I am not affiliated in any way with the previous owner or previous employees. I assure that my establishment will be run in a professional manner.

Slander...

I am confused as to how YOUR encounter with a YOUNG FEMALE reflects on Planet Beach. I was sitting outside when this incident took place and if I recall correctly, you yelled vulgarities initially. Was she right to scream, no probably not, but that has no barring on me or my store. I understand as a mother your frustration, but you shouldnt try to take down a business along the way. Slander I believe is the correct phrase! As for smoking outside... I have NEVER been asked not to smoke out front and last time I checked it was ok to smoke outside. Not to mention all day everyday all the stores in this complex have employees outside smoking. I previously smoked in the back of my store, however it is very hard to see customers come in etc. Items have been stolen in the past while I was out back so I do now smoke out front. As for the children that pass by once or twice daily, I ALWAYS step away from them, I am a smoker yes, but a polite one! Lastly, the parking issue... Take a look who is parked in front of my store and the daycare daily! Everyday the DAYCARE WORKERS park in at least the first two spots in front of my store and the daycare. This too has been expressed with them but my response from them is "First come first serve". What I am trying to say is maybe you should request that your DAYCARE workers/directors park a couple spots back (common courtesy) not only so the parents can easily pick up their children but so that my customers too have a place to park. I have brought this up with the landlord on several occasions, of course nothing has been done. I simply suggested that they put a 30 minute parking sign in the first couple places to accommodate all parties, with no prevail. As for double parking, I am here everyday and have never seen anything of the sort. Again I am just frazzled as to why you would involve someone's lively hood when it has nothing to do with me or my store! One word... karma!
