Dear Amanda, I belive that Shelters are a great solution to the over populated pets insted of the pound (state funded killers). They can place great pets into homes, but then They also can be puting a sick animal into a home without even knowing it. You may pay $200 for your pet or more, and years down the road end up paying thousands of $dollors in Vet bills due to poor genetic clicks. Bad breeders should be avoided at all costs, Geting the most information from the person about the background of the dogs, and genetic problems that accur from a certian breed are just 2 of Breeders responcibility. A resposible breeder will give you a genetic guarentee, and even a personality guarentee. You cant guarentee an adult dog with no history from a shelter. They can test them for agressivness, and check for visible, or autoitory, defects, but what about the ones they cant see or hear- like Hip displasia? Glacoma? Cherry eye? Genetic Tumers? Bloat? Breeders that know what to expect , because of Histroy of the breed, are there to breed these things out. If you want to be a resposible pet owner you need to be rich to get a cheep dog from an shelter, because you may have to spend alot in vet bills later. Breeders have the right to be improving the dog population with genetic sound animals, People dont have the right to breed muts, all pets should be spayed and or nutered unless it will be shown or breeding quality for the better of the breed, not the decomposition of it. Please dont buy puppys from Petstores. They are not taken care of well, and the Mega Breeders that supply them usualy have diffrent types of breeds on there property, papering mixed dogs.

Just a thought, but maybe more people should try adopting animals instead of buying them, when it comes down to it you shouldn't be able to put a price on your pets. With overpopulation being such a big problem there are countless animals out there that need good homes and loving companions to take care of them. By buying our pets from these places we are allowing them to thrive, and also allowing the overall suffering of our domesticated animals!! This comment was not aimed at reputable breeders, but I think they to should take a look at the problem at hand before adding to the fire!

I am a breeder of AKC Champion Boxers. For future Boxer owners I suggest you always get a "health warranty" in writing no matter how much the dog costs if the breeder offers one. Get references from the breeder from other buyers of their dogs. Peruse the pedigree of the prospective pet. If the pedigree has too many dogs from the same kennel in it or dogs with similiar names find out the relation of said dogs. In the above situation small claims court could resolve the situation. A true breeder is out to enhance the breed not make a buck from their litters. Boxers are also notorious for heart murmers and heart defects as well as a few other problems. There are a few good links to check out, the AKC and the American Boxer Club can provide future boxer owners with information on health and related issue. Check out the breeder thoroughly before purchasing from their kennel. A 900.00 investment is usually not pet quality dog.

They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report: Their email: [email protected] Their relationship to the company: Supporter Rebuttal: Sorry to hear about your loss. Take them to small claims court. Those pet shops are puppy mills! They mate the parents with their young. That is why the puppies end up with defects. Sue them and get your money back.
