Almost fell for Paramount, then found out about the others.
These companies are all located under the same address in Central Manchester. In their job adverts they promise you a sales/marketing job (usually as a graduate job) with opportunities for fast progression. Sometimes you even get a call from them when you didn't submit your CV - they find it on job sites.
Their advertisements are usually very secretive about what the company does, what the role is and how much money you will make, but they promise good money and fast progression. The first interview is very brief, they typically don't tell you anything about what the role involves and how much you'll be earning. They don't tell you much about what the company does either.
In reality, the role is door-to-door sales or door-to-door fundraising, 12 hours a day on a commission-only basis (no basic salary). If you take the money you earn with them and divide it by the hours you work, it will usually be (a lot) less than the national minimum wage per hour.
They might or might not be part of the Cobra Group but they operate on the same basis so if you wanna find more info on what it's like to work for them search 'Cobra Group' on this website.
Another similar enterprise in Manchester (different address this time) is Harvey Wayne Communications (www.harveywaynecommunications.com).
Upon doing further research I have discovered that there are many similar companies under different names throughout the UK, but the pattern of recruitment seems to be very similar to what I've described here.
