Well, well, well, all is well, all is well. I applaud you for the handling of this business. One question remains....if you are as you say, an accomplished musician/engineer, and you want the best for your business....Then why all the crap comments when "Robert" asked for his money back. Now that you have such great respect for this man and his band/music do you no longer think Ill of his talent....or, are you just taking the high road of a businessman looking to get paid. No to incite bad feelings but you never apologised for saying things like ..."WANT TO BE ROCKSTARS" and " WHICH WOULD BE A NO NAME WANT TO BE ROCK BAND THAT NEVER WAS OR NEVER WILL BE !!!" and again "FIRST OF ALL , THE RECORDING IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE BAND ITSELF, UN-FORTUNATELY THE EGO'S FAR EXCEEDED THE TALENT PUT OUT AND THEN TO EXPECT A MASTERD CD IN THE SAME FOUR HOUR SESSION, YA! THATS REAL PROFESSIONAL GUYS...YOU REALY KNEW WHAT YOU WERE DOING AND WHAT RECORDING IS ALL ABOUT !!! HA! YOU DONT HAVE A CLUE..." now, not to remind folks of all you said about a persons craft, but, WHAT PLANET ARE YOU FROM? I have used studios in and around Los Angeles for some time now, from Studio Masters, Larabee Sound, The Monster Factory, and Sony. The owners and management have never disrespected an artist either for their talent, nor have they gotten angry for someone asking for a refund based on "shoddy" engineer work. The comment by the engineer never addressed his forgetting to add the drums to the project, he just goes on and on about overlapped clips, etc. As a professional, we all know that forgetting an instrument is a "Rookie" mistake in mixing. Look Bud.....release the cap lock and be professional, not some half witted owner that rambles on and on trying to posture against a "customer" who gave you his hard earned money just like anyone else would. And who made you a music critic!!! Just because you own a recording Studio it does not mean you know JACK about music. Dr. Jerry Buss owned the forum where the Lakers played and he could not play a lick of Basketball. So, do your job on this planet, give the guy his money back, stop the name calling, and for Christ sake stop criticizing an artists music when you know all too well that you cannot carry a tune or tune an instrument!!! Thanks to the Author of this report.....If I am EVER in New Hampshire I will never, and I mean NEVER go to Papa Blues. You are not even in the Artist directory of recommended places to go record in the State. You are however the only one in Tilton. I feel sorry for the musicians there.

HE WAS AND IS A COMPLETE GENTLEMAN AND I TOLD HIM HE COULD COME IN WITH HIS NEW BAND AND USE HIS SHARE OF THE TIME SINCE HE HAD PAID CASH OUT OF HIS POCKET FOR HIS SHARE , HE DESERVED A CHANCE TO USE HIS TIME !!! First of all, your ex bass player was offerd the time to use with his new band and he said he was going to see about it !!! He did not want anypart of what you are doing and disagreed with what you are doing , so dont twist the facts robert/dave and further more we will not be answering anymore of your dumb insults, you need to get a grip you were offerd a fair responce to your issue. You want to go to court we are ready and you my friend will be paying for my time , my engineers time, my staffs time and the cost of closing my studio for the dayt of court , I have a great lawyer,and you are not going to get a free demo from us and then try to screw us pal!!! Just for the record; our former bass player and Dear friend declined the stores offer to record there, I wonder why (They forgot to mention that little fact) like us he just wants a refund. As Mike from Radford, Virginia said The word "refund" doesn't seem to be in Papa Blues' vocabulary. I've said it over and over that the band does not want to do anymore business with Papa Blues. So Bud can bring two checks with him to court, one for us and one for our attorney. You can support them all you want but the facts are the facts and that's all that matters in a court of law. Hi, my name is Darin Johnson. I have had the pleasure of recording a full length album at Papa Blues studio in Tilton N.H. with my band and I must say that the service they provide is top notch all the way! We had our moments of set up checking for sound setting for clips etc. that is normal in all studios. We had four hour sessions scheduled and they went just fine and many of our friends have recorded there also and none of us have ever had a problem with the staff, the owners, or anyone there at all. In fact they went out of their way to provide refreshments and even food for the guys, so I think this individual should re-examine his case as there are plenty of us who will go to bat for the Papa Blues Folks. Listen every band is different and we all have our ups and downs, you cant exspect to go into a studio and have everything perfect, especialy for the first session and you should no that if you have been in studios before. I have recorded in alot of places and to be honest, this was one of the most pleasurable recording sessions I have ever had. Our master was flawless! To be honest we could not believe the results. Dont get me wrong we are good, but the master far exceeded our own expectations. I also see that your bass player has been to the studio and talked to the staff and the owner there and they seem to have worked out any problems for recording his time. So how can anyone say that that is not working out the situation? I believe that that is totaly what the Papa Blues staff is all about, providing service to their clients , and it seems very clear to all of us who have read this that Papa Blues has been totaly up front with everyone and addressed the situation not only professionaly, but with very honorable intentions! I read this whole piece and with all the things you have said not once have you recognized that all you had to do was go to talk to them and they would work out the recording time for you also, but you seem to just want to smear the studios name and make acusations, of which I do not blame Papa blues for the rebutal he wrote or they wrote in responce to what you wrote as you were pretty nasty guy! however it seems they have done the right thing and started with your bass player going to them as should be , and he worked out his situation for his time and that is what everyone should do. I do not know your bass player, but I will say he has my respect for doing the right thing! You also, I see, got a "quick Demo" as some of us in the recording scene call it, of your session work for that time, so I guess you must think that the engineer should not have been paid for all his work , in setting up the session and doing his job as an engineer should do? Anyone,anyone at all who has been in the studio knows there is work to be done for setting up, levels have to be set, sound checks have to be done, instrument cables have to be checked etc. etc. etc.. Papa Blues is a professional and I and many others know this man and his staff, and they are all very gracious people, helpful,kind and a great inspiration to alot of us in the music biz. I would like to say thank you PAPA BLUES for all your help on our album and for all the help you have given our friends bands and for your dedication to the music world... I couldn't get a herd of horses to drag the band back to your wannabe studio. You have made it clear to the world that you have no intention of refunding our money; any reputable business in the world would have done so (even the dollar store) but you chose to forget about us move on to the next victim(s). My satisfaction is going to come from the fact that at least one band will see this and not do business with Papa Bluesoops there's $600.00 out the window. Not to mention if we had been treated right we would have done more business in the area of equipmentoops there's another 3 to $4000.00 out the window. Obviously you didn't take the time to read the front page of this website. Every company receives complaints, but how they handle those complaints separates good business from bad business Papa Blues has showed their true colors to the world, the last time I checked the hit counter it was at 280 million. Last but not least: We do own the contract and have every right to sell it if we desire! But don't stress yourselves out to much, I get the feeling we couldn't get $10.00 for it. Want to talk about fabrication? Your personal email account; I don't have or want your email address! I'm sure you have many complaints in your inbox. In all of your replies you have pointed the finger at everyone but your business and made derogatory remarks. p.s. Just for the record the bands name is Mrs.Taken and no one in the band knows who this Dave person is (must be another one of your unsatisfied customers). p.s.s. To Dave; I appreciate you coming forward, but please do me a favor and file your own complaint.

Here we have a case where the band doesn't want to work with the studio any more, and the studio doesn't like the band any more. Completing a satisfactory recording under these circumstances would be difficult or impossible. The honorable thing to do would be for the studio to offer a refund of the unused time. Not once in any of the studio's responses is such an offer even hinted at. The Papa Blues representatives must be gluttons for punishment, because they are trying to invite the band to their place for continuation of the insults and "pissing match". Seems like they should just let this one go.

First of all I have no idea who the hell Dave Lambert is or how he got involved. Secondly our former bass player that you keep mentioning so much has always played in 2 bands & we decided to replace him due to his long illness (you know what I'm talking about!)& we are still very good friends with him. You're going to sell our studio time? I DONT THINK SO! Tell you what, I'm going to sell the contract -- have it stamped by a notary republic & you can deal with it from there. I appreciate that someone at your store finally made an effort to reply in a professional manner. Now let's drop it.

Adding to what was just posted ... My main issue with all of this is the huge lack of communication. During the session if things weren't going how you wanted them you should have told me immediately, at the end of the session I left the studio thinking there was no problem. It wasn't until I heard that you had complained to the owner that I found out you guys had issues. This is how I see it... If there are any issues or problems with the recording they need to adressed imediaetly and taken care of. I said from the beginning that we could redo the session if you guys were that unhappy. I run the studio so there for I responsible for the clients in the studio. I aim to please and if there ever any problems I take care of them. If we had finished all your hours of recording I guarantee you would have been satisfied. This is how recording sessions work, things sometimes go wrong and they do get fixed. The other lack of communication is between you two and the rest of the band, mainly meaning your bass player who stopped by the store the other day and told us he had no problems with the session and was unsure what this post and everything else you guys are saying was all about. We told him he's more than welcome to come in and finish up the rest of the hours with his new band. See all it takes is a little communication. Were all humans here we're not trying to rip anyone off, I personaly think to the only people ripping anyone of is You two ripping youselves off by no talking to us not being rational and especialy7 not realizin that this is how sessions go, that CD is far from finished and that it could have been finished had you decided to come use the rest of you booked time. I must correct myself from before I just looked at the contract that you signed, and I was wrong it wasn't $600 for 12 hours infact we gave you a deal for $600 for 20 hours which I must say is * hours free quite a deal!!. So using 1/5 of you hours you ended up with a project that was like you time far from finished. SO maybe you bass player will come in and make good use of the rest of the time. SO I'll end by saying all you had to do was come talk to me and we could have worked the whole thing out and your recording could have been perfect, but instead you decided to post this and rip yourself off, sorry man but there not a lot more I can do for you now. If you would like to talk to me about this call me at the store and we can talk this over like real respectable people.

To Dave and Rob of Mistaken... First of all I am sorry that you were so displeased with you unfinished recording, but you must realize the recording was just that, UNFINISHED. This is the product of a four hour session, the first of the 12 hours you booked. I admit there was problems with the recording the bass was noisy and a few recording passes clipped (overloaded) so I decided to retake them, as any other recording engineer would do. If you are paying for the session I can't let the recording levels clip, as it makes horrible noises. SO at the end of the session when you asked for a cd to take home with you I figured you wanted it for just a reference as to where the rcording was at. The Mix was done in about 15 minutes for all three songs, this by no means adequit for a proper mix. I was fully expecting to hear from someone in the band that following week so we could book more time to tie up the loose ends in the recording (Overdub Bass, Guitar, and vocals then mix) but instead booking time I was informed that the guitarist came in and had a lot of complaints about the session and the recording. When I was informed of this my first reaction was and still is I'll give them there time back meaning instead of having 8 hours left they could have the whole 12 hours back, to continue to work on the project. So I expected to hear back from someone in the band, at some point.. But this post was the first response That I am aware of.

Not only does the store rip people off they have no class as well (just read their rebuttal). Making derogatory remarks about people instead of addressing the issue. A smart business would have tried to resolve the problem in a professional manner not by masking there inadequate behavior with stupidity. Yes we did make mistakes on the songs, after palying them at least 10 times each & hearing from the tech that oop's "can you guys play that again I didnt get the drums --sorry" trust me after you hear that over & over you lose your mental ability to be creative. I've said all I'm going to say about this ripoff clinic, if you dont believe me go find out for yourselves.

The owner of this store obviously doesnt get it. #1 The store never addressed the money issue and/or refund very professional. #2 Making self judgments about people without facts? Let get my money and drive to that store a.s.a.p. Anyone with a brain can see through this stores rebuttal, it is total bulls**t! Also, using cap locks is considered rude. Grow Up! FIRST OF ALL , THE RECORDING IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THE BAND ITSELF, UN-FORTUNATELY THE EGO'S FAR EXCEEDED THE TALENT PUT OUT AND THEN TO EXPECT A MASTERD CD IN THE SAME FOUR HOUR SESSION, YA! THATS REAL PROFESSIONAL GUYS...YOU REALY KNEW WHAT YOU WERE DOING AND WHAT RECORDING IS ALL ABOUT !!! HA! YOU DONT HAVE A CLUE... MY ENGINEERS ALL HAVE DEGREES AND ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND WE HAVE A GREAT STUDIO AND DO A GREAT JOB HERE!!!! I TALKED TO THE GUITARIST IN THE BAND THE FOLLOWING DAY AND TOLD HIM TO HAVE THEIR BASS PLAYER COME IN TO SEE ME AND I WOULD PERSONALY SIT IN ON ANOTHER SESSION TO OBSERVE MYSELF , BUT NO-ONE EVER CAME TO THE STUDIO TO SEE US AT ALL OR CONTACTED US AT ALL....AS I POINTED OUT TO THE GUITARIST ON THE DEMO THAT WAS BURNT DOWN AS PER THEIR REQUEST, THEIR TIMING WAS OFF AND THAT IS THE BANDS FAULT NOT THE ENGINEERS FAULT!! HIS RESPONCE WAS THAT "OH THE DRUMMER WAS TIRED AFTER PLAYING THE SONG THREE TIMES".. AS FOR OUR REPUTATION, THIS IS ALSO PART OF THE BUSINESS WHEN YOU DEAL WITH IMMATURE IDIOTS! YOU HAVE TO EXCEPT THINGS LIKE THAT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT.. EVERY BAND WE HAVE DONE HERE, EVERY RECORDING SESSION WE HAVE DONE HERE, HAVE GOTTEN GREAT REVIEWS BY ALL INVOLVED INCLUDING THE CUSTOMERS BUYING THE CD'S OF THE BANDS WE RECORD HERE..WE HELP PROMOTE ALL ARTIST AND TALENTED MUSICIANS ALIKE... LET IT BE KNOWN THAT NO CALLS WERE MADE TO OUR STUDIO BY THIS MIXED-UP INDIVIDUAL, PERHAPS HE WAS MISTAKEN OUR STUDIO FOR HIS RESERVATION WITH THE LOCAL NUT HOUSE HE FREQUENTS, WHATEVER TURNS THESE PEOPLE ON?????
