Like everyone else it seems..

I was also a sucker for this one.

I live in an apartment and apparently someone let these people in. I got a knock at my door and it was a guy and girl asking me how I was doing today...

The guy goes RAMBLING on about who they are, they've been walking around all day long and wanted me to take a look at his list of magazines they were selling.

Through his rambling I caught him say that if they sell enough magazines they get these points that go towards their Nassau/Cancun .. wherever the hell trip.

So I acted like I was looking through them, not planning to buy anything at all when they guy says "So which ones do you want?"

I stood there and looked at him for a minute. I couldn't believe how persistent/pushy he was, not to mention disgustingly nice. He said he would write my name on what was the receipt.. and then said "Can I come in and use a corner of your table?"

I backed away and said no. He said "Oh well thats ok, I'll just do it right here, it will just be a little harder to write".

They both were young, and I'm only 21 myself, and apparently the guy thought that because I was younger he was going to seem like a 'cool', down to earth guy, and starts blabbing on about their sales today, and how there are a bunch of people in our city that are prejudice.

I myself am half white & native american, and I am more darker complected. (I'm guessing this was apart of his 'swift, sweet talking' in order to make a sale)

This guy was white, and the girl he had with him was black.

He told me this long story about how they've went to different houses and people wouldn't even look at her. I, being a SAP, of course felt bad.

And made a small minded decision that I will never make again.

Yes, I bought a magazine.

I wrote a check to this Sunshine Subscription for $37.

He told me that I should get the magazine in 90-120 days. But told me his mom got hers in 2 weeks.

After they finally left, instinct or women's intuition.. whatever it might of be.. Something didn't feel right.

I got on the internet to read up about this place, and of course, came across this site.

I feel better to know that I'm obviously not that only one these people have pulled a fast one on.

There's no telling if I really will get the magazine, but I feel either way I'll get screwed out of money anyways. If I cancel the check, it will cost me at least $25. and some other posts I've read, people have said that after doing everything to get their money back, this company has turned them in to the credit bureau.

I feel like there is no sense in having this show up on my credit over $37 & I also feel like getting $12 in return after a canceled check isn't even worth it.

Yes, Young and dumb. BUT, I have most definitely learned something from this.

I am sorry that you feel that way. I do not blame you after working for PMI myself. I started looking at this because I thought it would be neat to maybe run into some of the people I used to work with while I was an employee in 96-97. I cannot place any gaurantee you will recieve your magazines. To be quite honest of all the magazines I sold, I have no clue if anyone ever recieved them except for one lady. I sold her a subscription in Tennesee and a few months later after we got to Seattle, WA, I ran into her at the Shedd Aquarium. She recognized me and said she recieved her magazines. I was happy she had got them. I hop you recieve your too. My name is J.D. Now to the bad and the good. I worked for John Lauro's crew. We worked alot with Bob's crew starting in Portland, OR all the way down to Houston, TX, where I left the crew. Some of the people i worked with: My Crew(John Lauro's): Chris Colvin Ron Bennett Kentucky, his wife, and baby Amanda(Johns girlfriend) Jay Ray Crew: Lucky(Tatoo guy) Bob's Crew: Kim Lehman(Pricks Girl) Dan Ford(p***k) Many many more!!!!! Not sure if anyone will remember me, but i was pretty well built, Blonde hair, blue eyes. I remember alot of bad stuff from my experience. I remember a girl got shot in the face with a beebee gun and Bob beat the living crap out of the guy that did it. I remember traveling from El Paso to San Antonio and there was a van being driven by a guy on my crew(black guy, don't remeber name) that flipped and killed a few, and paralyzed a few more, seriously hurt the others. Lot's of drugs, lots of alcohol, and lots of crazy stuff. John hardly ever paid us, we practically starved, and fortunately had hotel rooms. Eventually I left because i was hanging out in some girls room, and John found out, came over and said someone who didn't sell enough today couldn't chase women around. I told him a few words of my own, and next thing I know he's dropping Ron Bennett and I off on the side of the Interstate in Houston, TX. I also remember messing around with Kim Lehman so her boyfriend Dan Ford, a driver and crew leader, dropped me off in San Jose, CA and made me walk, yes walk, all the way to Oakland, CA to our hotel. I had a huge crush on Kim, and wish it would have gone further. I have moved on now though(married). I sold triple zines, double zines, and single zines, and not really sure how much I actually made. I wasn't a good Magazine salesman because I couldn't lie to people. I was one of the few people who had Mid-Western personality(I was from Iowa) and couldn't cheat or steal from people(knowingly). Wouldn't mind hearing from anyone who remembers me. I was not given the promised bus ride home, but the ONLY good thing I can say about Vinny and his company is that when I called him to complain about it, he did cut me a check for what it would have cost to go from Houston back to Iowa. Other than that, I pretty much agree with the comments most ex-employees have made on here. I did have alot of fun, I got to travel, I had guns pulled on me, but most of all i realized I wanted to do something important with my life other than sell magazines door to door. Do I regret it??? Some aspects of it yes, but it also formed the Good Honest salesman that i am today with a ligitimate fortune 500 company. To all the people doing it now, GET OUT!!!! The negatives far outweigh the Positives. Find yourself a good honest career after going to college...
