My sad story is the same as several I've read on this site & I too, should have known better.

A female "college student", & very polite knocked on my door with the story of trying to win a trip to Cancun by selling magazine subscriptions. I asked what school she attended & she did tell me a well known college here in Connecticut. It was pouring rain out, so I let her in & after some hesitation, finally agreed to buying 1 magazine.

She then claimed someone was supposed to be picking her up, but they must have gotten lost because they were late. She asked to use the phone, which I let her do. She supposedly spoke to someone, thanked me & then left.

I had almost forgotten about the whole thing till I was going thru some paperwork the other day & found my receipt. It's been almost 3 months with not one issue of the magazine being received. The receipt has Palmetto's address on it, but no phone number. That's when I decided to search them on the Internet & found this site with all the complaints.

I'm planning on registering a complaint with the Better Business Bureau & the Atty General here in Connecticut as well. With all the reports I see here, I can't believe the media hasn't picked up on this!!!!

I too am an ex employee of Palmetto...I don't remember when I worked for them, I think it was back either in 2001 or 2002, I found an ad in the newspaper about travelling around the US and making some good money along the way. Thought it sounds fantastic, so I applied, and the "Leader of the unit" bought me my bus ticket to Arizona (we were in Pheonix at the time) I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I will tell you this. These people do not give a d**n about their workers. I was with this company for about 6 months. there were times i went almost weeks without eating because i didn't get any sales. And I was really nieve so i had no idea what i was doing was illegal, nor did i have any idea this company was a scam...i did however stay truthful to every door i knocked on, especially since i was starving and just wanted to make atleast on sale so i could get a small burger or something. I would tell the people this too, and this is why I got fired....but before they fired me, the guys on the team proceeded to beat and rape me and then throw all my stuff over the balcony where most of my clothes landed in the pool....when i got home, my mom wanted to file a police report, but there was nothing much we could do...I was pretty much black and blue, and very much traumatized...They also DID do drugs, I didn't, and that pissed them off even more.... I'm really sorry you didn't get your magazine. Please understand, half these kids that work for Palmetto are as much victims as you all are....

I am sad to say that i am a former employee of PMI. I was "picked up" in Worcester, MA and promised drugs, alcohol, and freedom, all i had to do was work a twelve hour day to maybe make 60-70 dollars. I have read some other posts and I traveled with the crew for maybe four months in the summer of 2000. I remember Bob Cecil, his girlfriend. An asian girl named Felicia, Mac, Dan Ford, some fat dude Lucas, Josh from PA, JD, Big D and many others. Most of these cretons probably dont even know how to use the internet. I am not trying to find any of my old friends, but i do want to say this. When i went to my "interview" some fat guy showed us pictures of all the girls he "nailed" The "application" asked if we smoked marijuana, and consumed alcohol. PMI lures troubled kids in with false hopes, the kids enjoy the lifestyle of having no parents to keep them out of trouble. These "Car Handlers/Van Handlers" were the worst often times resorting to violence against agents. In fact the day in which i had decided it was time for me too leave and go home. Bob Cecil barged into my hotel room and demanded his bonus money back. The night before and that morning i had recieved about 100 dollars for numerous quota bonuses and what not. Cecil says"give me my money back or i will light you up" "these bonuses are for people who want to work here" Flippin p***k stole my money, left me at the bus station without so much as a bus ticket and that was the last i ever heard from PMI.

I thought it only fair to report that I just received the first issue of the magazine I bought a subscription to.
