Arrived a day late for scheduled move from NY to FL. Tacked on another $1,000 to estimated charges and asked not to let owner know. At Florida destination, found over $3,000 worth of goods missing, items broken and hidden in garage. Owner claimed there was a break-in a few days before and maybe stuff was stolen! We were never informed. Upon arrival, no inventory list was presented, no receipt was given and movers left in a hurry when they say how angry we were. Wouldn't even let us look in the truck! Have tried for 2 months to get information from them, no one returns any calls.

They are the most unprofessional, careless, negligent and unscrupulous moving company I've ever come across. Once they receive their money, it's over.

Our move to Florida was hard enough and they made it worse. The items taken can never, never be replaced. There were items I saw go on that truck that could not have possibly been taken in a break-in at the back of the truck. They allowed this to happen. They are scum.

To get the story right i would have to start from the beginning we had picked the household goods a day later since our truck broke down and we had to use a rental truck (it was a while before we could get a rental truck).

When we arrived most items and misc. items were not packed in any which way. So we packed it and charge for our services, boxes and labor, as any moving company will do in order to complete a job.

When arrived in Florida the client was not ready for delivery so we parked the truck in the back of our warehouse, when in the morning we noticed it was broken in from its side door which is in the mid to end of truck, a police report was filed and a copy was mailed with copies of the contract and an insurance claims form which was never returned, all we kept getting was phone calls with missing things and items. The people that read this
you must understand the the truck was packed very tightly that if so many things would have been missing you would notice as soon as you look into the side door of the truck (that wasnt the case since everything looked the same way it was based on the driver information except for one night table that was placed outside the truck.I would hate to call anybody a liar but even our insurance company droped this claim (which was filed by
us)We would like to solve all our customer claims as soon as we get them in our office, unfortunally some claims are fraudulent in order to get money they dont deserve.

In closing to keep hundreds of customers happy in the service industry is impossible.
Thank you

Totally fabricated rebuttal

#70

Fri, May 11, 2001

After reading the rebuttal, I have to laugh at their attempt to justify the incident.

First of all, the story I received for the truck delay was the previous client was not there to receive delivery and they had to wait another day, not that the truck broke down and they were waiting for a replacement. Get your story straight.

Next, when they did show up ALL items were packed in boxes. They claimed they needed an additional $983 on top of the original binding estimate. I was told by the mover, Tony, not to mention to the owner that he would give me a break by giving me the full truck and not filling the truck with a second job he had to do. What a guy! That's what you call a break?

As for the truck break in. All items that were stolen, were stolen from the back of the truck. Bike, golf clubs, power tools, etc. They were NOT in the middle of the truck. The police report states that the side door of the truck WAS NOT broken into. Perhaps some of these things never even made it into the truck. We weren't there to see it. Neighbors claim to have seen items going into a second truck. That's odd, since supposedly I had the "big break" of having only one truck entirely for my goods. I have no problem calling someone a liar if they are one...LIAR!

this nightmare continues...as the holidays approached I found all the Thanksgiving decorations my kids had made over the years gone..the box stolen. Now the last straw, my Christmas decorations are missing. Boxes of Christmas memories, years of memories. These boxes were in the middle of the truck, they could not have possibly been stolen at a break in at the end of the truck. Pacific Van Lines continues to ignor my phone calls, they now just hang up on me!! Can someone help?

Pacific Van Lines, Hallandale, FL..unscrupulous movers

#100

Everyday this moving incident haunts me. From day one, my son's bike missing (he cried for a week), golf clubs, toys, a suitcase containing all possessions I had left from my deceased father. Personal items missing from my dresser, and the list goes on. Welcome to Florida. We were all so happy about moving then these movers turned our move into a nightmare. Yesterday, I was searching for a box marked videos which contained all the home movies of my kids since they were babies...gone. It's funny how that box was in the middle of the truck and the moving company said the break-in occurred at the end of the truck. Funny how alot of things are missing that were not at the end of the truck.

It's been two months since we moved to Florida and I can't rest easy with this matter. I cry because some items are gone forever, never to be replaced. I won't rest until I get revenge on this moving company...If anyone has any suggestions or can help, please..
