Complaint Review: Options aka Trans Continental Talent - King of Prussia Pennsylvania

Being familiar with the intertainment industry, I can't believe I did not know just how deceptive Trans-Continental-aka-Options pratices are.

I was only on board for less than 2 weeks before I called it quits. Their scout turnover is so high for several reasons:

1 Your first week is your so-called hell week, where you as a scout in training/independent contractor are required to come into the office and offer your free labor for 5-6 hours per evening during the directors open calls. In addition, having to meet your quota of 20 people per day for each open call.

2 While during your unpaid inititiation, you become the object/subject of the officer director's humiliation and back door jokes. This one office director in particular, is demeaning to both staff and talent.

You are involved in a corporate conference call where someone named Alec or Alex promises $1,000 to the new scout who brings in the most shows during hell week. This was too good to be true, or is it?

What a scam! This is no "Dream Job", this is a nightmare! I am embarrassed to even have had my name attached to this. My experienced started with my letter via email to come in for an all day interview from a Susan Matthews - Options Talent Group in King of Prussia, PA.

When I arrived, you never ever see or speak with Susan Matthews. You see other scout perspectives and the anal office director who is that way from the door.

Next you are interviewed only by the office director or by a so-called Sr. Scout who is not even on base salary yet(you know this from asking). You are then required to start your hell week immediately. Once you start your hell week, you are then issued business cards with another fictious name on the front of the cards (Patricia Patterson). You were told to tell your perspective talent/model that she is the VP of new faces. You the scout have never met or have spoken with this person. Right off the back you are set out to lie for them.

Mind you now you the scout are given a brochure with a signature page on TCT's code of ethics in scouting. For the potential scouts the code of ethics was written in english to make sure we understood. For the ones in the top tier positions, it was written in arabic, they don't follow one code. They lie from the start.

They keep their operation running mostly on free labor and unethical pratices. I can't speak on other office across the country, but I can speak on the office located in Philadelphia.

It appears to me this particular office director has the attitude of a primed pimp who's livelihood thrives on mentally screwing his scouts and their numbers, mentally abusive if their tricks/quotas are not met; topped with lies and deception at any cost and no-matter who he hurts.

for those looking to break into the intertainment industry, there are other legitimate ways to go about it where it will not break your bank. However, there are startup cost involved but not like this. Anyone asking to monies upfront is not legitimate.

In addition to paying $600 up front plus the monthly maintenance fee, you will have to pay to have your headshots done by them, that is an additional $500 plus for each additional pose would be $15.00 per pose. You are still not guaranteed work after kicking out all of this money! Just exposure?

You're better off getting a copy of the Television Commercial Casting and Production directory from Barnes and Nobles for $16.00 and doing your thing and/or going on a legitimate website to post your pictures and resume for only $60.00,

P.S. I had just started when the anouncement regarding the Trans-Continental merger was officially made, which was just a few weeks ago. I don't know how long the company went under Options. Apparently not long!
