Computer Associates (AKA CA) home and office antivirus / firewall has historically been problematic, in one way or another.  Products are released under new names and users try the software again hoping the new name will perform differently.  It usually does in that the problems do change.

With eTrust Sammy (AKA EZ-Armor), Computer Associates could not seem to keep the license term straight, resulting in the software timing out prematurely, until you paid again, and then it would time out again shortly after that.  Eventually you would end up with several software serial numbers all timing out prematurely.

The newer CA Internet Security Suite works most of the time on 32-bit Windows not well enough to say it works at all on 64-bit Windows Vista.  Even though there are phone numbers given for tech support, tech support is Web based in India.  The tech support "engineer" will invariably ask you to log onto a Web site address (URL / IRL), which they will give you, from the computer in question, where you will chat with the engineer.  The ultimate solution will always be that you should reboot the computer, thus ending the chat.  It doesn't fix the problem.  it simply makes you contact them again and get a different engineer.

After you've given up on the company and the product, you should go back to the product download / support site they email you and set the product to not auto renew.  Unfortunately, after getting several emails saying the product won't auto renew and you will be unprotected, it will auto renew anyway and you may be charged yearly, long after you've given up on their product, if you're not watching your credit card charges.  You can call them up and the support person in India will offer to make it so they won't charge you next year after many iterations of not understanding you.  Your best bet is to cancel the credit card so they cannot charge you again or, better yet, steer clear of their software in the first place.
