Home warranty of America

1st American home warranty

Where do I start? Well, I bought my home protection warranty through Old Republic Home Warranty almost a year ago. I have had to place 2 service request in the last month and a half.

The first service request was to fix the AC. I placed the service request and the company came out to fix the AC. There was a wire that needed to be reconnected. The AC repairman thought this would fix the problem. Well, he never addressed our original complaint that it wasn't cooling properly. He fixed the wire, collected his $55 fee and said call back in a month or so if there is a problem.

Well a month and a half has passed and we still have the original problem of the AC not cooling. The Reps at ORHP have cost me a lot of wasted time listening to the B.S. that they have on how to fix their swimming pool, etc on their automated message. I don't need to hear that crap. Anyways I still have a problem with the AC. They wanted me to pay a second $55 for them to fix the AC, it has the same problem. They also stated that I had a 30 day warranty on the guys repairs. He never fixed anything. He just reconnected a couple of wires.

This leads me to my second service request to fix the stove and dishwasher. I placed this service request on March 23, 2004 and it took them until May 10, 2004 to come and tell me that my Stove and Dishwasher are working fine but, that I need my breaker to the stove fixed. They attempted to charge me a $55 service fee for this, but I refused to pay for POOR service.

I called them back on a second time (a week and a half later) to inform them that I still haven't heard from the contractor that was supposed to come out and look at the stove and dishwasher. They tried to re-fax the work order.

A third call came three weeks after the original call to let them know that I still haven't heard from the contractor again. A fourth call came a month later and then they reassigned it to another contractor.

A month to have someone tell me that the stove and dishwasher are fine, but that I need an electrician to come and replace the breaker that goes to the stove.

I declined to pay the contractor his $55 fee since ORHP took so long to diagnose the problem. If they would have had their crap straight then I would have gladly paid the Service Fee.

The electrical work was the only thing that has been done timely. As soon as the Appliance Repairmen diagnosed the problem I called ORHP back and they sent an Electrician the very next day. Since they took forever to come out and diagnose the problem they waived the fee to the electrician, but only after I complained to a Supervisor.

Let me also complain about how ignorant the Reps are at Old Republic HP and all they are interested in is there stupid little $55 trade service fee. They could care less that you paid $350 for the first year. If you ask to speak to supervisor and threaten to sue, then this is when something gets done. Why didn't they just take care of me in the first place. I will not be renewing my plan through ORHP and am searching for other plans.

Old Republic Home Protection does not come highly recommended in TX anymore, I've been told to try Home Warranty of America or First American Home Buyers Protection.

P.S. Still waiting on them to fix the original problem with the AC...

Sincerely,

Beau
