Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
My family and I evacuated to Houston Texas before hurricane Katrina. We were there in hotel rooms for about 2 months. We kept the rooms in Houston to come see the damage that the storm caused our home and business in Meraux, La, It was gone. We came out here to Picayune because it was the closest thing to where we lived to find somewhere to move everyone who was with us which was myself, Lynette Shuff, my children Reece Shuff, Morgan Shuff, my nephew Michael Broadmyer, my fianc Lee Guidry his sons Lee Guidry Jr. Beaux Guidry, his mother Cecilia Guidry who is on dialysis and handicapped. At that time, we found this trailer at 236 Old creek Road that was hurricane damaged and looted, but it was empty. While I was still here, I found some papers in the trash that was all around the trailer and it gave me Robert Fore's name. I went to the Popllarvile assessor's office and got as much information as I could. I Didn't have enough to be able to stay here I had to go back to Houston as there was nowhere to stay at that time there was not even Fema trailers available. I went back to Houston and started doing some research on this place myself and spoke to a woman at the mortgage company Midland Mortgage. I finally found a contact through them of an Anthony Fore. His wife Rhonda Fore lived in Mich.the woman from the mortgage company told me she could not give me their information, but she would give them my phone number and if they wanted to they could contact me. We waited another 2 weeks and bought some tools and worked a couple of jobs in Galveston Texas until Mrs. Fore contacted me and I told her our situation at that time she told me that it was left to her husband after her father-in-law Robert Fore had died and they moved out in April of 2005. She said we could lease it from them for $900.00 per month but they did not want to move here. I told her about the damage and the looting that was done to the property and she said she would contact her insurance company. I asked her to fax me a lease agreement and have it notarized so I would not have any problems when we got here. She said she would so we packed up anything that we had accumulated in the last 2 months and waited 3 days before it came. We would not leave before we got it just to make sure everything was right. She said she would send an aunt of hers over here every month to pick up the $900.00. Which as time went on seemed kind of shady, but we didn't want to make any wave as we had no where else to go, We drove here and had to get the water turned on and the electricity which there was an extremely outstanding balance on everything, but eventually we proved we were not them and they did let us get the utilities on.

We cleaned everything we put new toilets in, shower doors, back glass sliding door, there was nothing but trash in here we had to buy a new hot water heater, put new siding on the side where a tree fell on it, put a new roof on it as it had holes and was leaking, we had to put new fronts one the cabinets if the werent completely gone they where just busted up There was absolutely nothing in this place such as furniture appliances, we had to get new PVC pipes for the plumbing because the old ones were gone, stolen, and yes the kitchen sink was gone, we replaced the stove, fixtures on the electrical outlets and worked together to get this place livable as we paid them $900.00 a month. I dont really think you understand. We were not rented a place that was ready,

we need a place big enough to put a roof over our family's head and this was our only option at the time. A few months later after we had made this place a nice place to live an insurance man that Ms. Fore had called came out here and inspected it. ( I always let anyone who knocked on the door concerning this trailer come in and have a look and always tried to explain to them that it wasn't like this when we got here.) We had a contractor come in and do a lot of window fixing and cabinet fixing and other thing that had to be installed and ordered because this is a trailer nothing was standard size the we could get from Lowe's or Home Depot. At or about July of 2006 We received a letter from a Lawyer I believe his name to be Steve Massey not sure though telling us that the payments had not been paid on this place in some time and he gave me a number for the Veterans Administration and the Midland Mortgage company to see what I could do. I called Midland first and they were very adamant and ugly and uncaring about our situation so I got in touch with a lawyer and a lady Jeanne Lewis at V.A. and she tried to help and told me not to pay the Fore's any longer as they were not paying the loan and hadn't paid in some time before they even entered into the lease agreement with me. She was a Godsend though as she tried to help in anyway that she could. I tried to see if I could catch up on the back payments, which I could have ,but the place would still not be in my name and there was a big chance that the Fore's would take it back because at that time it was still legally theirs. These people were very hard to contact the aunt stopped coming here after I showed her the letter from the lawyer and told her I had been in contact with V.A.

I asked the aunt if she would have Ms. Fore call me as the number I had for her in Mich. Was no longer in service. A few days later, she did and I explained everything that was going on. At that time, she told me that her and her husband would let us assume the note. About a week later, I received in the mail her father-in-laws death certificate and a copy of his will and a copy of the deed. No letter no return addresses. I tried to get it done through attorney's Tonry and Ginart I sent all of what I had and spoke with a lady named Tina on the Phone numerous times all the while still in contact with Jeanne Lewis with V.A. I went to see an attorney in Popplarville, Ms. Named Joe Montgomery. He told me that in the state of Ms. That I had to wait until it was foreclosed on before I could do anything because it had to go to succession and these people were not going to do anything. Now here we are we put blood, sweat, and tears and about $25,000 in money in this place we had let our neighbors from Where we used to live put a fema trailer here, we have 4 children enrolled in school here after they like a lot of people were torn from the only home the had ever known and lost everything they ever had we have an extremely handicapped lady living here who is my fiancs mother 3 people living in a fema trailer. I could not make up a story this bad. On January 21, 2007 our life as bad as it was made a terrible, turn for the worse. Our truck and about $30,000 in tools were stolen and our income stopped abruptly. We had money in the bank to be able to at least try to keep this place but we had to use a lot of it to be able to buy another truck and tools to make money to live. I know you told me that V.A. would not let us assume this because I am not a veteran, but my dad was in the coast guard for 25 years and my ex-husband of 18 years was in the army he's a vet. Please I know that if you wanted to you could help us. There is no place for us to go anymore I put all of our money into this place just so we can all have some source of normal life. This place was in deplorable condition when we got here and we made it a home for our children, neighbors, and ourselves. This is 10 human lives that live here and we have made it a nice place to live. Where we came from is nothing but a slab, a giant tombstone to what our lives were.

Please help us, we are willing to pay rent, a note or what ever it takes to stay here. I cant stand the thought of our kids being uprooted again. We are self-employed; we have a flooring company and have been in business for 23 years. We have a few big money jobs we are working on, but not in time for this deadline, we have on us now.

Like I told you yesterday, this place has been vacant since April 2005, why the urgency now to put ten tax paying productive people out on the street I mean literally we have nowhere else to go. We are not on food stamps, welfare or any assistance from anyone. I have a son Reece who is a senior in high school this year and will graduate in late May. He is also working for a land surveying company on weekends and holidays. My daughter Morgan is in 10th grade here and is excelling in school being very close to the top of her class, she is involved in R.O.T.C. in school and works at the local Mc Donald's. It is not easy trying to keep all of our children on track after the devastation we have all been through. It is very physically and mentally challenging. Feels like I'm going to go crazy.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I had put a down payment on the property adjacent to this property and pay taxes and a note on that every month which makes this property more than twice the size it was. That was when we thought we were going to be able to get this place and make this our permanent home.

I found out through the woman at V.A. that the Fore has received an insurance settlement even after we spent our money fixing it up to live in.

Sir, I can get you letters from the neighbors who lived here before we moved in that can tell you what condition this place was in before we got here, from the storm and looters.

I will try to send pictures of how it looked when we got here and how it looks now.

Please we beg of the V.A. to please have some compassion on us and let us keep this place. I do not know what else to say, I have shed so many tears, made so many sacrifices and prayed so may prayers. All I can do no is put it in God's hands and Pray that there is someone on the end of this letter who has a heart. Katrina is not over for us, it just does not stop.

I have bank statements for 2006, to show the money we make and saved and am trying get back again.

My oldest daughter is buried out here it is only about a 20 minute ride to her grave.

I am sorry if it seems like I am freaking out. I am.

Thank you for anything you can do. And please let me know soon because I am having a severe meltdown.
