Lets forget a moment about the culture of corruption and the fact that Ocwen employees purchased VA homes for themselves after using tax payer money to fix them up. Lets forget about the fact that certain agents/brokers took the cream of the crop listings in return for kickbacks. Lets forget about the price fixing and release of acceptable bid prices in a closed bit environment again in return for kickbacks.

Oh incase you think I am making this up, check out the paper trail in public records on 3227 S Saint Lucie Dr., Casselberry FL 32707 back between August of 2004 and February of 2005 purchased by a Mr. Piana who was the asset manager for the property while working at Ocwen. And if the records don't reflect that anymore then you can bet it's a cover up because I have a copy of the records which by the way were sent to the Department of Veterans Affairs and nothing was ever done.

Now lets talk about Michael Moreland and his incompetence. First off Micheal lied to all the VA asset managers telling us we would be making about $40,000 more than what we really made. Secondly under the management of Michael Moreland the asset managers were instructed to place thousands of unreparied assets on the market. Some containing mold, others asbestos, wood rot and the list goes on. After about 8 months Michael calls a meeting and tries to place the blame on all the asset managers for putting dangerous properties on the market with no repairs. Keep in mind no system for repairs had yet been implemented. After we all took a scolding for something we were directed to do a repair policy was finally put in place. Problem was agents, broker and contractors sometimes had to wait month to get reimbursed. So instead of selling assets I spent most of my time answering phones from pissed off agents, brokers and contractors. I actually felt sorry for them. One poor guy called me and exclaimed he was being forced to file bankruptcy because he could not get his money reimbursed from Ocwen.

We had also opened another Pandora's box because corrupt agents, brokers and contractors would make repairs before allowing the asset managers to get bids from several contractors. When we told the agents, brokers and contractors they cannot do this they would call you know who Michael Moreland and then we the asset managers would again get scolded. I can only imagine that many of those repairs were bogus since we never got a chance to get bids from other contractors nor did we ever see the before pictures of the so called repairs.

Michael Moreland did not want us to give him any of our advice either. I recall one of many situation where I was not getting feedback from an agent who was supposed to be handling my asset. After telling the agent over and over to respond with a status report or lose the asset he called you know who, Michael Moreland. Again I was scolded and told to leave the agent alone and let him do his job. Well I did this for about 9 months with now feedback from the agent so I decided against Michael Morelands directions to take matters into my own hands. I had an agent from another agency drive out to check on the property and low and behold the house had never been secured, rekeyed, winterized, had never had a basic cleaning and the yard was never maintained. It was a complete hazard waiting to happen should a child try to enter the house.

This is the kind of BS we asset managers had to deal with on a daily basis. And now for my last point. I along with other good asset managers that worked for Michael Moreland at Ocwen and eventualy left have been blacklisted from the industry. I have only one thing to say to those willing to do Michael Morelands dirty work. I would not want to work for anyone, nor would I do business with anyone stupid enough and corrupt enough to listen to a man that is this incompetent.

And as for our Department of Veterans Affairs I really dont know what to say. They gave the contract to Ocwen even though Ocwen has such a bad reputation for corruption. What can you say about a Department of our Government that would do such a thing?
