As of October 01, 2001 my husband and I have documented, saved and amassed a mountain of paperwork in our efforts to find out WHY we were almost foreclosed on. In February 2002 we tried to refinance only to find that Ocwen had reported us 1 time 60 days late on our mortgage. From February until now {July} we have been literally stonewalled with paperwork from Ocwen. We noticed early on in our dealings with them, how they would never send us anything in writing. Well, we've got paperwork now! Their representatives {who never sign anything} have sent us some great stuff for us to include in a lawsuit. There is the matter of unfair credit reporting, conflicting statements, wrong addresses, mis-applied payments, horrendous late charges, unanswered letters and phone calls, and NOW..foreclosure fees added to our payoff quote that were already paid {we kept the receipts!} as well as a "suspense account" that seems to have appeared from nowhere. My advice is to create a paper trail and keep a diary. Document, certify, and notarize as much as you can! It will help. DO NOT take the word of any of their representatives, because they are not "authorized" to give you proper information. Request everything in writing before you give them what they want. Charge them your own fax fees and bank fees when you have to track down records for them. Send them ONLY certified receipt requested. This may seem like a lot to do {and it is} but you will be amazes at the paper trail you will have in a few months. And a paper trail is what you will need to fight back.
