The following is a list of long distance charges demanded from me by Knology Long Distance that were placed through a company known as OAN Services for which I have no address. I intend to refuse to pay these ridiculous rip-off charges:

1 Aug 03 Huntsville, Al fr Shreveport, LA 15 min - $21.98

2 Aug 03 Huntsville, AL fr Shreveport, LA 8 min. - $14.13

3 Aug 03 Huntsville, AL fr Haughton, LA 34 min - $42.31 4 Aug 03 Huntsville, AL fr Haughton, LA 24 min - $31.47 5 Aug 03 Huntsville, AL fr Haughton, LA 18 min. - $24.97 6 Aug 03 Huntsville, AL fr shreveport, LA 9 min. - $15.47

7 Aug 03 Huntsville, AL fr Haughton, LA 26 min. $33.64

8 Aug 03 Huntsville, AL Fr Haughton, LA 17 min. - $23.88 Federal Taxes $6.24 for a total of $214.09.

These unscrupulous long distance charges were charged me by OAN Services and were in fact paid by my long distance provider, KNOLOGY. In OAN Services's tv advertisement under the name 1-800-COLLECT they are advertising "save a buck or two" by using their services if you have no long distance calling card.

This company is ripping off the unknowing public and KNOLOGY for one in my opinion is helping them to do so. I was not warned about OAN Services by KNOLOGY nor did I see or read anywhere that these kind of unscrupulous charges would be incurred by me. The general public needs to know the TRUTH about using 1-800-COLLECT. Thank You

On Oct 8, 03; I talked with KNOLOGY representatives and they said they had only been billed by OAN Services and would not pay these unscrupulous long distances charges ($214.09) and that I would not pay them either. I WILL take KNOLOGY out of my complaint but WILL leave OAN Services in my complaint as a warning for other unknowing victims to see. Thank You,

OAN is Not a Long Distance Company

John, OAN (Operator Assistance Network) is JUST a billing Company for thousands of Telecommunications company. Did you know anyone who called you collect from a Jail or Institution? You are mistaken to believe your Long Distance company or your Local Phone company have taken care of these charges. They have agreements with your Local Provider to collect for these "services", and your home phone will be turned off, and your credit damaged if you do not pay. On your Phone bill is an 800 # for OAN, try calling them and ask for an adjustment at the A. T. & T. rate, this used to work ONE TIME ONLY. Just so you know, OAN was owned by EDS, a General Motors Company!
