I received a phone call about 2-3 weeks ago with a very belligerent lady/girl telling me I had to pay for a credit card I never had. I have since received two collection letters. The "original creditor" is Captial One Bank for a Mastercard. The lady also told me that I had made payments on this card until 2002. Incidently from July 2000-September 2001 I didn't have a job and the job that I did manage to get only lasted a few months and I did not make any credit card payments to the 3 cards I did have and none of them were a Capitol One card. I have since been approved for a Capitol One Visa and have done well in payments. I told this person that I might send them a VOD and her statement back to me was, "Good, you do that so you can see your own handwriting and also know like me you're lying!" I was apalled at her desperate attempts of being a butt to me. I also told her that I had never had this card and that maybe my identity was stolen. She laughed and said repeat that...I obliged infactually stating "I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAPITOL ONE MASTERCARD IN MY LIFE!"
So my question is do I send them a VOD or just a request for proof of my signature? BTW, the debt collector is Northland Group, Inc out of Edina, Minnesota. (MN)
