Do not waste your time interviewing with this company or their recruiters. You will just be hired to refer family and friends and make money for Agents above you. Why else do you think they are always, always hiring. Reputable company to invest with... just not to work for!!

New York Life resume trolling

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Fri, April 20, 2012

In the summer of 2011, more than a year after leaving New York Life, I got a telephone call from one of the "partners" at the local office inviting me to apply for an agent "job."  He had gotten my resume off of Careerbuilder even though I had posted it weeks earlier when applying for something else.  The resume did not mention my short unhappy stint at NYL, which was not misleading because I had left before selling the six life policies that were a prerequisite to becoming a non-probationary agent and actually getting the chance to earn money.

I now realize that the decent thing would have been to tell the "partner" right away that I wasn't interested and thereby stop him from wasting his time.  But I was in a rather feisty mood that day, and let him prattle on for several minutes about the *wonderful* opportunities that NYL offered those very few people qualified enough to be selected as agents.  It was very difficult not to burst out laughing.  Finally, I took a measure of pity on the poor schmuck and politely informed him that I had been at NYL, found it to be anything but a good opportunity, and that I was no longer interested.

Really, folks, in an economy with fairly high unemployment, except in the rarest of cases no companies seek out and contact people to invite them to apply for jobs.  Wal-Mart doesn't do it, McDonald's doesn't do it, K-Mart doesn't do it, you get my point.  It metaphorically speaks volumes that NYL has to do it.

Fraudulant New York Life Beware doing business

First of all the claim about New York Life pumping and dumping agents to get family and friends is very accurate.  New York Life in Oregon and in every other state is corrupt and pulling unethical business practices that unfortunately has not been held accountable for because of what the US economy is doing.  Which is nothing!! These managers running the business are more or less committing acts of fraud.

I recommend getting the word out!! Go to "Youtube" and watch this video which is only part 1 about New York Life turning and burning agents.  Type in the search engine "New York Life" you will see a title "New York Life burning and churning masses of unemployed workers part 1." There is also a part 2 to the video which discusses a women being sexually harassed at New York Life.

I will be submitting further documentation for people to view on this website and more about the unethical behaviors of New York Life and their management team.  It's about time people become aware of it.

Revolving door

At the large office in the Northeast where I "worked" for six months in 2010, people constantly shuttled in and out like a revolving door.  Each month about 25 new agents started, in order to maintain a base of 250 to 300 agents, and within the first month at least half of the 25 would be gone.  I was one of only two or three people remaining out of my "class" of 25 when I left after six months.

Not MULTI LEVEL MARKETING

#5UPDATE Employee

I am an agent with New York Life.  I will give some insight to your comments.  First of all New York Life is NOT I will repeat NOT a multi level marketing company.  We are a very legitimate, extremely highly rated (highest in the industry) by third party rating companies.

So on to your claim.  new York Life is always hiring for the same positions, because there is only one position to start in the company, sales agent.  There is also a high turn around on employees.  As is the case with any life insurance company that hires new agents.  If I were to get you to interview to become an agent here is what would happen.  You would interview with a manager.  They do all the hiring and helping you with your work.  They get paid based on how well you perform.  They do not do any sales themselves.  So they will not take any sales from you.  Second I would get a ten percent bonus on what you are paid.  You would not get paid any less.  You would make the same if you walked in off the street or I recommended you, I would just get a bonus of ten percent of what you make for the first year only.
