In November of 2015, our company was notified by Neopost that our postage meter was going to expire soon.  After negotiating and receiving other bids, we discovered our lease for the mail machine would not expire until July and if we decided to leave neopost we would have to buy-out the remaining months on the lease and even if we did stay with Neopost they would roll the remaining lease payments into a new lease.  We told the salesman, we would wait until our lease expired, because I didn't want to roll old lease payments into a new lease payment. Our lease was $110.40 per month and Neopost quoted $100.00 plus we kept the existing equipment.  FP Mailing Solutions quoted $50.00 per month for the same type equipment, with a rental payment versus a lease.  We decided that when our lease expired we would return the equipment and sign an agreement with FP mailing solutions.

July came around and we signed an agreement with FP Mailing Solutions and called Neopost about our lease expiring on July 14th and we needed an address to return the equipment.  I was transferred to a Mr. Lomax and he stated that since we did not notify him 90 days prior that we were canceling our lease than he auto-renewed our lease for 12 months and we now owe him 12 months of lease payments before he will send us a return authorization for the equipment.  I told him that I read the lease and it does not state the 90 day clause and it is illegal to make "New Rules" if both parties do not agree.  I told him that there were many attorney's looking for a "Class Action" lawsuit and they were ripe for the picking.  He said I had to send him a letter to cancel and he would send my cancellation amount.  I never received anything.  I contacted our sales person and the manager and he said he would take care of it.  I sent him the letter and nothing happened-no response.  I called- no response. I re-sent the letter.-no response. I have a mail machine that is not ours and needs to be returned. I have support to provide that our lease agreement does not state a 90 day notification and I also have support in emails that they were notified.  What Neopost/Mail Finance does is wrong and they know it.  The lease agreement must state clearly the terms of the agreement and both parties must agree.

Let me also mention that when I told Mr. Lomax that we wished to cancel the lease- he asked why and I said to save money that the lease was too high and our volume of mail had decreased due to EDI.  He asked how much I was quoted from Neopost and I told him $100.00 he said he could do $90.00. I then told him we had agreed to go with another company, because their rental payments were much lower and we would receive a new machine. He asked how much and then said, how about $75.00? I said no ours was $50.00.  Then he said I can do $45.00.  I said look we already agreed to go with another company, Neopost had their opportunity to be competitive, but they weren't.  Mr. Lomax then proceeded with ransom money.  Blah, Blah, Blah about how you owe us one year in lease payments and I will not give you an RO until you pay.  I told him also that OOIDA loves lawsuits involving leases and you may be flagged. Let me say this we have been with Neopost/Hasler for over 15 years with several mailing machines.  We will never do business with Neopost because of this and their charges.  Our FP mailing machine works better than Neoposts and it's easier to use and the cost is 1/2 of Neopost.
