They started calling me saying that I owe them $1, 674.67 of student loan with them which I know that I already have paid my student loan. I told them to send me prof that I owe that student loan and it took them about 2 months to send me the prof yes they did but it doesnt say a website to make the payments to them it just says 3 different addresses for them and a client number. It says to call them to make the payment in full. I was looking threw the internet to see if I could find their website to make monthly payments but I found alot of warnings on this company. I was about to make them a payment but somethign told me to read this. I ask my self why woul a company state 3 different address and say to call them to pay balance in full. I have paid my student loans and I was able to make the payments in montly payments. I just want to report them incase they are trying to commite another fraud

"In numerous instances (Expert Global Solutions debt collectors) call persons repeatedly or continuously with the intent to annoy, harass or abuse," the FTC said in a settlement filed in federal court in Texas.

Expert Global Solutions is the world's largest debt collector with 32,000 employees and $1.2 billion in annual revenue, according to court filings.

It was the largest fine levied against a debt collector, according to the FTC.

This company is also NCO - check with your State about third party debt collection policies.  Some states require that debt collectors file an surety bond with insurance before they are able to collect any debts.

Good luck and fight these assholes.

The Federal Trade Commission has slapped the largest debt collector with a $3.2 million fine for harassing consumers.

The FTC said in court records filed Tuesday that debt collectors at Expert Global Solutions of Plano, Texas, used abusive tactics like calling people several times a day, early in the morning or late at night, and even at their workplace. In some instances, the collectors wouldn't stop calling consumers even after debts were paid, because they had not verified if the debt still existed, according to the settlement.

I have dealt with this NCO company before on Student Loans. It is a part of a much bigger company that owns several different debt collection agencies. You have to be smart when dealing with these folks. First ask them for debt verification. They have to send you BY LAW your signed documents. Also BY LAW (don't ask these greedy, stupid republicans or they will lie to you about this point) the company CANNOT charge you more than what you owed originally. Also BY LAW the company cannot MISREPRESENT the debt or claim you have in any way commited a CRIME.

You also need to GOOGLE "Federal Government Now Resolving Debt Collection Complaints" that came out two days ago. This is a VERY BIG DEAL. It use to be where people would simply file a complaint with the Federal Government under Unfair Debt Collection Violations. Well, now there is a new VERY, VERY POWERFUL Government agency called the CFPB aka (Consumer FInancial Protection Bureau). They have both Enforcement rights and the right to change LEGISLATION to protect consumers. They just put out yesterday they are targeting Debt Collectors and getting right into the middle of ALL debt collection complaints. They are an ARM of the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT and these guys do not play.

Their website is www.consumerfinance.gov

You go to their site and submit a quick complaint and they send you an email verification and they get right on it. They are like the BBB but One MILLION times more powerful.

Here are some news reports about them:

Abusive Debt Collectors? CFPB To Resolve Complaints

"The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau"is now taking complaints about all types of consumer debt collections, including credit cards, auto loans, mortgage loans, private loans, medical bills and student loans. Using this system the CFPB expects all but the most complicated cases to be closed within 60 days.

The bureau also developed five action letters that can be used when corresponding with debt collectors.

Hope this helps.
