This company represents Columbia House. I have not ordered from Columbia House or any other mail order company like them in the time frame they specify (it has been at least 8 years since I ordered from them when I lived in another state). They hadn't sent me any bills or notices, nor have I received any product from them.

When I checked my credit report recently, my score had dropped by almost 100 points and it was because of National Recovery Agency. My credit is now ruined because of what they claim is a $66 debt. I feel that this is very, very wrong and they shouldn't be able to do this to someone.

I talked to them over the phone and they stated that they couldn't help me. They also stated that even if I paid the debt in full (which I told them I didn't owe), it will remain on my credit report.

I recently mailed them a cease and desist letter which requested proof of debt which I haven't heard back from yet. I have seen multiple cases on the internet of them erroneously reporting debt on people's credit reports and they, like me, are very angry about it. I have also filed a dispute with Experian and the debt remains. I'm not sure what else to do about this.

At this point, there's no bill to pay, it's far beyond the Staute of Limitations and should vanish.

DO NOT PAY THEM ANYTHING.

You say your haven't ordered from Columbia House for 8 years, you might have forgot to pay a bill.

Call Columbia House billing department, ask them what you owe. If they don't know ask for the supervisor then their supervisors then.....

This might not be a rip off, it might be an 8 year old bill that you forgot about.

Do What I did

1.  File a report with the BBB of Oklahoma City--I realize this won't do much, but at least it is on file.

2.  File a complaint with your state attorney general.

I just did that with these bottomfeeders.  I got no answer from the BBB of course, but I did receive notification from the AG office within 3 weeks of filing my complaint.  I got a letter from these fools that they were removing my name from their database as a 'courtesy' to me.  (How nice of them, considering I didn't owe them a dime!).  They also agreed to contact all 3 bureaus within the next 30 days to have the bogus info removed from my report.

Do NOT give them a dime--I guarantee they have no proof of the debt-I also guarantee they are in cahoots with Experian, who will immediately validate the debt within 24 hours of a dispute.

Good luck...try it, it works!
