Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

They charge you $50 to drive around a crusty neighborhood for 10 minutes and instead of using the local driving laws as parameters they use "personal preference"... not one example given after the test was "an illegal act" or something dictated in the driving manual.  Ex:  Said driving 25 in a 30 was marked because you are expected to drive the speed limit...No you aren't... you can't EXCEED the speed limit but there is not a speed MINIMUM unless otherwise posted.

Said it "took too long to accelerate up to speed limit" and that was marked... yet there is no law for how quickly you have to achieve your speed so how was this marked as "fail"?  While turning "got close to the curb but didn't hit it" marked off anyways even though no law was broken and he even admitted the car never touched it..."just got too close"- Even yelled at my daughter while parking after the test to "not touch the accelerator"... which was unnecessary.

The staff was extremely rude and sarcastic, instead of answering a question they would actually get irritated and chastise you for "not following instructions" or listening to their instructions yet we did... she said "take the keys, start the vehicle and he will be out in a moment"  There were two vehicles and my daughter asked "which one?" I nicely asked the lady behind the counter "ma'am, which one?" and instead of just saying "the white one" or "the blue one" she got very irritated and in front of others said "i just told her, hit the button and the lights will flash!"  well, she DIDN'T actually say that to us... so I said "ma'am it was just a question" to which she replied while rolling her eyes "and I've already told her but YOU were talking and she couldn't hear me"... we hadn't been talking, I just said "good luck"...

this place is terrible, they are nasty and rip you off with bs rules and expectations-  Avoid at ALL COST.

Following directions is important.

Mr.   Creighton,  I am sorry that you did not enjoy your experience in our office last week when you brought your adult daughter in to take a test with us. I'm not going recount the full details of how you were rude to my staff, kept talking over what we and your daughter were saying instead of listening to our responses to your questions, or refusing to read directions. None of that has any bearing on how we run our business or the state testing standards, and it is frankly not all that uncommon in our day-to-day business. With the thousands of people we help every year, we only have a small number of complaints and those are almost exclusively from people who were unsuccessful on their tests or people we were unable to test.

Your daughter was unsuccessful on the test because she was speeding multiple times, including in several active school zones. My comment was that she likes to drive 30 mph, whether the speed limit is 25 or 35, and that it is safest to drive at the speed limit. Faster than the speed limit is illegal and unsafe while slower without reason is generally unsafe (and is illegal in some circumstances) since having a big difference in speed, in either direction, is quite dangerous. I mentioned trying to not turn her shoulders on lane changes because the wheel usually turns when shoulders turn and she started to take us into another lane (getting bubble mirrors on the side mirrors on her car may help if it is due to medical condition). When we were parking I did have to take over and then get incredibly specific on how to pull into the parking space since she almost hit parked cars on either side of our space and would have severely damaged two of our company cars had I not used my brake. I don't think that you or I really wanted to deal with that. I was not being demeaning, simply giving directions, which I unfortunately had to do a several times at that point before they were followed. She has apparently learned how to follow directions from her father, though she at least was polite.

Your daughter seems like a very nice person who simply needs a lot more driving practice. Her driving is not safe or where it needs to be to meet state standards. With practice, I am sure she will get there. I hope that she remembers what we discussed and makes the needed improvements.

Thanks,

Caleb

PS. - Our first statement on the clipboard is about our payment policy, so if you had read it at all, your question would have been answered. As much as I would like to have the time to go over all of our policies verbally in detail with every potential customer, the volume of customers that we see makes it impossible as well as provides an opportunity for us to misspeak or forget something. This is why we have our relevant policies written out for you to read and have applicants read it before taking the test and allows an opportunity for them to decide if they are ready to take the test at that time.
