MWI Galleria USA ripoff unauthorized charges ripped off and scammed Stamford Connecticut
I recently received my credit card statement and was shocked to see a charge from MWI Galleria USA for $139.95. I normally would have asked my wife if she had gone shopping and forgotten to tell me but this happens to be a credit card that I use only for my monthly AOL charge. Obviously, the $139.95 stuck out like a sore thumb!
I called the number on the statement and was greeted with the standard automated menu selections.After accessing my "account" I listened to the recording. IT IS IMPORTANT TO LET THE ENTIRE RECORDING PLAY! After all the selections, it finally asks you to dial "O" to speak to a rep.
I spoke to James (ID#15089) who barely spoke english and mumbled his way through an apology. I reportedly had signed up on line on 31 July, 2002. "Didn't you get your catalog and discount coupon?" he asked "innocently". He apologized and advised me that he would personally send the documents to me immediatel and that, if I still wasn't satisfied I could cancel with no penalty.
I decided to research a bit further and that's when I stumbled on "The Ripoff Report".
I read several similar complaints about this company and its' several affiliates and immediately called them back.
This time I spoke to Brian (ID#14812). He read the same scripted responses as James did. When I advised him that I demanded to cancel the service for a full refund I was offered all kinds of coupons for discounts and rebates.
HERE'S THE KEY!!! I then advised Brian that the charge was unauthorized and needed to be removed immediately. Further, no other charges were to be processed from any of their affiliates.
FAILURE TO COMPLY WOULD BE MET WITH A COMPLAINT TO THE CONNECTICUT STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. mY CREDIT SHOULD SHOW ON MY NEXT STATEMENT.
