Be aware of the MOVIE GALLERY. I keep getting calls from the manager telling me that I have a free rental on my account, and that I need to come in and get it. So of couse, I do. It's free.... why not? I'm not much on renting movie but when it's free, it's hard to pass up.

I checked out my free rental, and returned it on a Sunday morning (it was due by close on Sunday). I get a coupon for a buy one get one free rental a couple of weeks later and go to use it, and there is a late fee on my account, a $4.50 late fee. The movie wasn't checked in until Monday morning. They tell me that I must have turned it in after close on Sunday, when I actually took it in to the store. I understand accidents happen, soo I pay the late fee, and get my two movies. I returned on of them as soon as I watch it, and I told the lady checking it in that I wanted to watch it being checked in, so that I know it is, and told her the situation and about what happened before. The manager makes a smart comment in the back ground like "yeah, whatever, you know it was late," and laughs.

The 2nd movie gets turned in the next day on time. I get one of the free rentals again and go to rent a movie today only to find that I have another late fee. The last movie was late too, ironically, I was out of town on the date they have me returning this one. The manager was a smart a*s again, and told me I was wrong. So again I end up paying for the free rental. I guess it's a good scheme, you end up making the money back by charging your customers a late fee on a free rental. The late fee is the same as a rental.

I told the manager, that as soon as this rental gets turned in, I would not be renting any more movie from them.

If you read this, please do not make the same mistake that I did. Make sure when you turn a movie in that you watch it yourself get checked in. The movie I watched get checked in, was the only movie that was actually checked in on time. Coincidence, I think not.

In your case, Ashley i think the store manager needs to get in trouble. It is a free rental. As long as it brought back on time. If you know you did then you did. I usually in your case will believe the customer and take care of it and recommended to the customer like you did to hand it to someone and watch and make sure it's checked in. The Store Manager in your area seems to be very rude and needs a talking too.
