It should have occurred to me that an e-commerce company with a Panamanian domain name registration, a privacy policy borrowed from someone else's website, and no published street address might be a bad choice. Particularly when it seems that most of the goods they sell are at roughly half price.
However I didn't look into all that before choosing to place a small order with them. Another thing I overlooked is their outrageous delivery times - 7 to 20 business days. While they do publish that, they don't make it obvious while making a purchase.
Upon inquiry, I was reminded of that lengthy shipping time, but 20 business days are now well behind us and all I can get from them are terse apologies. No ETA, no offer to look into things with their shipping company, and definitely no refund. My card was charged when the order was placed, not when it supposedly shipped.
I received an email suggesting that my order had shipped four days after I created it. The order didn't actually go anywhere, according to now-available tracking, for a full two weeks after I placed it. I've been led to think that the item is somehow on its way to the east coast of the USA, where it will someday be provided to the US Postal Service, who will get it to me (on the west coast) sometime after that.
Is that really a ripoff? Or just horrible service? If the order ever actually shows up I'll try to update this. I am glad the order was small and hopeful that my credit card provider will be able to settle the dispute in my favor. We'll see.
