I contacted Mrs. Krisangela Washington about becoming a director for her pageant she owns, the Miss Black Universe Pageant System. After a long phone chat and looking over the director information packet, I decided to join her organization as the Ohio Director, as an independent contractor. I was told by Mrs. Washington, and it was also mentioned in the director packet, that the only upfront cost was $190 to cover creation and upkeep of my business website for the pageant.  Note: The information on this fee is in the Director's Guide, emailed to me by Mrs. Washington, but the file is too large to upload to your website.

After she finished the contract, which was signed by me and returned to her, I still had to get her the funds for the website so I could start promoting my pageant. Mrs. Washington never sent me a copy of the contract signed by both of us.  Funds were sent to Mrs. Washington on my behalf from Ms. Carla Ballou of CB Artistry, on of my pageant sponsors who provides makeup services for my contestants and titleholders. The funds were sent through PayPal on March 23, 2018 to Mrs. Washington using the email address of [email protected], which was provided by Mrs. Washington. I contacted Mrs. Washington to confirm receipt of the funds, which she confirmed. She also stated that my website would be up and running by the following Friday.

On March 29, I contacted Mrs. Washington that following Sunday as the website was not up. After a few days and a few messages, she responded stating with the National Pageant being on April 1, 2018, she was too busy to get the website completed. I could understand the problem and she said she would get to it right after the completion of the pageant.

On April 8, I contact Krisangela to see when she would be getting to my website. It took her over 2 weeks and multiple emails, text messages, voicemail messages and messages on Facebook for her to finally respond by text message. She stated she had some concerns and wanted to chat. She never responded with time or date. I contacted her saying to just send the refund to Ms. Ballou, as it is apparent that she doesn't want me as a director. As of today, she has yet to responded to any of my messages nor has she refunded the money paid by Ms. Ballou.  She also has not responded to messages sent to her by Ms. Ballou.

I noticed today that her pageant website has been taken done off the internet.  An additional Email address for the pageant is [email protected].  Since her website is not currently online, I don't know if this email address, or any other email address, is still valid.

Reached Krisangela Washington After Almost 4 years; Still No Refund Received

On Sunday, April 10, 2022, almost 4 years after I filed this original report, I made contact again with KrisAngela Washington. I was on Facebook and noticed she showed as someone who liked a old Facebook page of once of my former titleholders of another pageant I directed.  At that point, I knew I was no longer blocked from her on Facebook and decided to send her a message through Facebook Messenger Chat to see if she would respond.

I told her in the message that I was still waiting for the refund of the $190 she was given from my sponsor for Miss Black Universe Ohio, that she never built and she had stopped communicating with me after she received. To my surprise, she responded stating she'd give me the refund once I removed the reviews I had made on her organization. This is admission that she owes the refund.

I asked her why should I trust that she would refund the money and told her that I wasn't going to take the reviews down until I received the the refund. She did not respond back and I added tht after all, she stopped communicating with me once she got the money and I had tried to get a response from her for when I had sent her emails, called her and sent her text messages for almost 3 months and she ignored all the messages. And of course as she did before, she stopped responding.

I've attached a screenshot of the conversation as proof of her admission of her taking the $190, not building the website and refusal to give the refund. I've been waiting almost 4 years to get the refund. I'm not stupid...I'm not going to remove any reviews and then she not refund the money. If she had any intention of refunding the money, she would have done it a long time ago.

Krisangela Washington Still Not Not Responding to Complaints

Krisangela Washington, CEO of the Miss Black Universe Pageant System, is still not responding to complaints.s. She also is not responding to emails, text messages or phone call.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and just received notification today that she has not responded to them, after they made two attempts to reach her.   The complaint is now being closed as unanswered/unresolved.  The complaint and her failure to respond will be added to her BBB profile, which was created when I filed my complaint.  Her profile is can be found at bbb.org/denver/business-reviews/beauty-pageants/miss-black-universe-pageant-system-in-denver-co-90256639.

I'm not sure how long it will be for the BBB to update the profile for the Miss Black Universe Pageant System.  If anyone reading this report has dealt with Ms. Washington and has also been ripped-off, feel free to contact me and I can connect you with others who have or are planning to file lawsuits against her.  You may email me at [email protected].

 Ex-Employee, I'd live to connect with you. Word as gotten back to me that there is at least one lawsuit filed, or being filed, against Krisangela Washington. I've also spoken with the owner of another pageant where Mrs. Washington served as a State Director. I'm told that she owes them money also.

Miva's report is one of many unethical behaviors and conduct that Krisangela has been guilty of through this organization. She has avoided communications when people start catching on to her schemes and has extensive acting training so she will deflect attention from any issues you bring to her when confronted so is not concerned nor apologetic about what she is doing. Her own former titleholder even made a public resignation weeks before nationals telling us what she was doing which definitely tells us that she was doing something shady. Do not trust this organization, she owes people a lot of money that she won't give back!
