Michigan Asphalt, Inc Tom Cotter Buyer Beware Stong arm sales tactics Birmin Michigan
Tom Cotter and Michigan Asphalt, Inc were 1 of 3 bidders on my asphalt driveway. After a bid of over $3,000 , which was alligned with his competitors, Tom continuously called and visited my home to "follow up" on his bid. I had advised Tom, on more than one occasion, that I would let him know when I was ready to discuss the competitive bids with him and when I was ready to begin the job, should my family decide to hire Michigan Asphalt, Inc. to complete it.
A month had gone by since Tom Cotter had bid my driveway replacement when I got a threatening call from Tom. Tom stated that he had just left my home and that he did not believe that I intended to use him to complete the driveway replacement. He stated that he believed that I did not actually require a replacement and that I had wasted his time. I asked Tom why, if my driveway did not require replaceement, did he origianally submit a bid of over 3,000 to complete the job? Tom got agitated and stated that he wanted to see me "dinged". I told Tom that I advised against any irrational decisions, whereupon he hung up and disconnected the call.
I had my attorney reach out to Tom to advise that my property is under 24 hour and 360 degree video monitoring. Tom did not answer my attorneys call, nor has he yet to return it.
Myslef finding a little humor in the association of mafia type characterization of concrete and asphalt companies, my wife and children find no humor whatsoever in the strong arm tactics employed by Tom Cotter and Michigan Asphalt, Inc. Neither of the two competitors of Michigan Asphalt have behaved in this manner, one of which will be employed to comnplete the replacement of my driveway.
