 i was planning a family trip i was told that i could make a payment and it would be availble in 2 buisness days needless to say when i went in to book the rooms for or trip 5 days later the funds were not available i contacted them and the told me the could hold the funds for up to 11 days it did not take 11 days to rip the money out of my bank account. Thanks Merrick bank for ruining my childrens vacation.

I see this is your speciality once again credit is the american way the riches and poorest people have credit i have plenty of credit cards  funny how you are over looking the fact that they lied i made a another large payment to another credit card and the money available the next day. I AM THE CONSUMER without us the banks are nothing without goverment bailouts they are nothing i do not need a credit card specialist telling me about rule i need a stand up company to be honest, Familly vacation here we come with a discount more money for more funds thanks anyway for yor 2 cents.

Oh yes the typical "You must work for them" spiel.

Regardless of if you want to believe it or not, your idea of a Credit Card is WRONG.

Needless to say this is my line of credit i spend it a pay it how i want it is not going to stop them from getting their astronomical interest fees

This "line of credit" that you think is yours is not yours.  The bank, in issuing you a credit card, has said that they will allow you to use UP TO that amount of THEIR money.  But since it is THEIR money they are the ones who control when you are allowed to use it.  They are the ones who can adjust that amount at any time and for any reason.  As I said, you could wake up tommorow morning, next week, or next month and find that you have a higher credit limit.  You could also wake up and find that you now have $0 available credit because they closed your account to new purchases.

With a credit card you give the bank just about all of the control.  The one exception is the Interest you pay them.  You see if you don't like to give them their astronomical interest this is where YOU have the power.  You can find a better card with a lower interest rate, or better yet pay off your balance. 

If you still don't believe me then go back and read the Terms and Conditions, because YOU agreed to them when you opened up the card.  Oh, and if you haven't figured it out by now...this is how EVERY credit card works.

It is amazing to me that someone is always willing to protect the banks because if it was not for hard working americans like me they would not have a company Needless to say this is my line of credit i spend it a pay it how i want it is not going to stop them from getting their astronomical interest fees. I pay my bills on time always have. Unless i choose to be dishonest and file bankruptcy like the man you probably support Donald T. If i was never lied to by this company i would have not expected jack if i want to blame them for dishonesty because truely that was what it was and for your info for savvy mothers and families paying ahead gets you a big discount not always offer up front.

They did not ruin your vacation.  In fact if you want to get really technical if there was anyone who ruined the vacation, it was you.

First off, the ONLY reason you would be making a payment is to pay back money you had previously borrowed from them.  This is THEIR money and it is up to them when they will allow you to use THEIR money again.

Had you planned ahead this should not matter, as the other reason reason you can't use it to make reservations is because you had previously used too much of your credit line.  In the past had you not used it as much you would now have more currently available and as a result be able to make your reservation.   Oh and any claim you try and make where you say you HAD to use the credit for other things blows your credibility.

As for the reservations.  If this family vacation is so important to you, why are you only planning it less than 2 weeks before you go?  After all in 11 days after the payment they will make the funds available and you can make your reservations.  Based on your comments here it sounds like the funds will be available in less than a week now.  Not only that but many reservations do NOT take the payment out at time of booking, they only use it to hold the credit.  Now, these may not be the absolute cheapest rates, but along with not being charged at booking you have the added advantage of being able to cancel your reservation.  With reservations you pay for at booking you don't get this option.

Then this is a question that seems to need to be asked.  Had they told you up front that it could be 11 days before the line was made available again what would you do?  Would you have just not paid them? 

But let me throw something else at you.  They actually NEVER have to allow you to use the line of credit again, and can actually close down your credit card at any time and for any reason.  Because once again it is THEIR money and this is something you agreed to when you got the card.
