Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

A year ago, I got an offer from this bank to help me with my credit rebuilding process and approved me for a $600 credit line and after 6 months of paying on time, they would automatically increase my limit to double. It is their "Double Up" offer.

I have always paid on time but I was on the road and did not have computer access, so I called the service center and talked to a gentleman there and he took all the information for my payment. I always pay the balance every month. A couple of weeks later I get a letter from the bank stating that my payment was late! I called them right away and the person that answered the phone, after getting all my personal info, he pulled up the payment screen and told me that my payment was taken a few weeks back but it was never processed. The first person never hit the SEND button to process the payment.

Now, I am being denied a credit increase because they are the ones that screwed the payment up. The second person processed the payment and because it was made on time originally, he made sure that I was not charged the "LATE FEE" because it was not my fault and he apologized to me over and over.

Not that I need or spend the $600 in any month, but for those rebuilding their credit, a credit limit increase is good for the credit report. But to deny me on their screw-up is out of line. They gave me a week ago, a $200 increase, but funny how I qualify for the $200 but not the $600 increase. I have called and talked to many people over and over again, and I have hit a brick wall. I think this offer of "Double-Up" is just a scam. With bad credit (my credit score is 655) and the interest rate that they charge you (27.40%) and then they screw with the real people that are working to improve their credit, they find ways to keep your score low.

I think everyone knows what a boost to your credit score is with an increase in "AVAILABLE CREDIT" on your credit report. Banks like Merrick wants to keep you low so you have to keep using them.
