I recieved an e-mail stating there was a rebuttal on this report I filed 2 years ago. So let me tell you what I have found out since!!! I found out that melaleuca tested another company's prduct on several lab rats. They used a lethal dose of the other companies product, to PROVE it wasn't as safe as they had advertised. What a GOOD and NECCESSARY reason to test on animals. Of course the provex thing also. PETA does not take companies off of a list for testing animal shampoo on a dog. Now, animal testing does do wonderful things for our companion animals. Sure, testing a product on a dog that "no one cares about" so your personal pet may live a longer or healthier life is great if you think of it that way. They achieve superior products through the agony of animals that "no one cares about" Keep in mind they decided to test on animals, after they signed PETA's statement of assurance. There you go, keep supporting them!! Much love,
Becky

As an independant contactor for Melaleuca I can say that even if I didn't work my business I would still be a very happy customer. Melaleuca is actually a 19yr old company that sits alongside other big corporations such as Nike and Xerox. They are an honest company and their products are superior to anything else I have ever come across. Melaleuca has over a million customers and operates in several different countries! It is not the fault of Melaleuca Inc. that someone signs something without reading the policy first. That is because of the person's own ignorance. Their policies are put in place for a reason and if you follow the correct policy then you will have no problems. Melaleuca has been awesome for my family.

In addition to the above comments, I would like to add that I was a CUSTOMER of Melaleuca's for NINE years before I decided to market with them. I say WITH because the company provides an unbelievably supportive environment for both customers and marketers. The lady that said she had been a "Distributor" for Melaleuca is incorrect. If she has chosen to buy a number of products, then provide customers with them at a retail price, she is NOT working the Melaleuca system as the company intends. This is a CONSUMER DIRECT company that adheres to ALL the Direct Marketing Association guidelines. I said all that because of all the OTHER complaints...for the animal testing...did you know that my VET actually recommended that I use the products for my dog...yes, the PROVEX CV (grape skin and grapeseed extract for heart health...tested and proven on HUMANS, too), our REPLENEX (Glucosamine for the joints), our VITAMIN complex (vitamins and minerals), and our newest PHYTOMEGA (Omega-3 Fatty acids also tested on HUMANS and proven to lower blood cholesterol)???? SO, if I can take these products safely...and MY VET recommends them and is now using them in his practice...what in the world is the complaint??? Don't understand...there are so many PRESCRIPTIONS out there that have unusual and often DANGEROUS side effects, that I can't believe we actually have to have this discussion. Oh...by the way, my VET also told me to use the purest form of MELALEUCA OIL to rid my dogs of fleas, ticks, and other pests. If you're still reading after all this...go and do an SEARCH for the Oregon KATU article about a particular BASSET HOUND and TIDE. Amazing story about a common household product...guaranteed that the completely natural laundry products from MELALEUCA won't burn YOUR dog and won't hurt YOU or YOUR KIDS either! Same for all the other products carried by Melaleuca. And for those who say they've been ripped off...I had a lady who also complained that she didn't know about a backup order (even though she was the one that selected which one she wanted)...Melaleuca refunded her money immediately when she and I called them. No letter needed, no hassle, no question. The company is 100% guaranteed. What more could you want?

I too am concerned about animal testing, and environmental issues in general. I called the company directly to ask. The C.S. rep was completely honest: yes, Melaleuca has tested on animals, but ONLY WHEN REQUIRED BY THE US FDA FOR APPROVAL. They needed FDA approval on ProVexCV (I believe, possibly a few others) to document claims about health improvements, and animal testing was absolutely required for this. As far as I know, they have never tested their cleaning, personal care or cosmetic products on any animals ever. But over 1 million households use them, and the far majority are very satisfied to ecstatic (judging by my friendss experiences and the over 95% reorder rate).

I am a Marketing Exective with Melaleuca, and I do have to add, that on the Peta website, it does have Melaleuca as a company that does ( or did) test on animals, and this is NOT regarding dog shampoo, but Provex.( A nutrional product)I dont believe anyone is knowingly misrepresenting this information, I had asked many people if they were aware of it and they said no. I am confident in the products that they produce, and will continue to support them 100%.

I am an Australian member of Melaleuca, I too asked about animal testing on behalf of one of my friends. I was told that Melaleuca removed their Dog Shampoo because some people considered the fact that a Dog Shampoo, when used on a dog, was considered animal testing (say what??). So I figured, heh, only in America eh???

This woman had an unfortunate misunderstanding as to how Melaleuca's "preferred customer" agreement works. I make a living with this company (though I am not technically an employee, but independent).

I have actively been a marketing representative and a very happy and loyal customer for over 7 years. The reason we are on the animal testing report is and this was stated by the company that we have tested our dog shampoo on dogs-----and that means we have used on their hair. This constitutes testing. There has been no cruelty to animals and our company is focused on bringing superior products that are environmentally friendly and safe for humans, animals, the environment and our homes. I am proud to be associated with Melaleuca!

My name is Mary, and I refer customers to Melaleuca. First, I'd like to mention my daughter, who works in a high profile job and demands the very best care for her hair and skin. Knowing this, I did'nt even mention her trying my products, because I figured she would think they wer'nt good enough for her. Well, one day she was dismayed to find she was out of her shower gel, I slipped my shower gel (yes, it's Melaleuca) to her, and just before she went to work, she said,'Mom, I really like that shower gel, would you pick me up another tube or so when you can' when I told her it was Melaleuca, she wanted to take my catalog to work with her, and when she returned, she had a large list of items she wanted to try. Since then, she alone orders more base points than I need monthly. I consider my daughter to be a Very Picky Comsumer, and if she demands these products for her personal use, then they are exceptional products in all ways.

I am not exactly an ex-emloyee, but I was a potential one today as a matter of fact. I've been doing a little research on the company. I am a very avid animal lover, I rescue animals as a hobby. SO animal testing, I know in some cases is neccessary, is a big issue for me. I was told by this woman, that no, Melaleuca does NOT test on animals, isn't that great? Too bad I looked up companies that test on animals and Melaleuca is one of them. Isn't that odd? I'm glad I read this now I will definitely not join. :)

I have been a melaleuca distributor myself for over 10 years now.I have never had any problems with the company or the products.Their products are excellent and top grade. As far as how they do business when it comes to debiting your account for a back up order..that is and always has been the policy(and that info is in the sign up paperwork)...that is what keeps the
company going..the continued business of its associates..that which we ourselves purchase from the company and that which we might sell to others..we each order ourselves every month and if we dont we recieve a backup order which the company picks out for us based on the amount of points we have previously signed up to order. One can recieve a back up order each month if they prefer it to taking the time to order ...this back up order can be the same items every month if you wish or you can call and change it any time.S.H.

I am a Melaleuca customer and I clearly remeber my agent telling me that if i did not have my order in by the end of the month they send you an back up order. You see when you sign up they ask you for a credit card so they can order with out hassle it is kept on file I personally ask alot of questions before I give out credit card numbers is what you should have done too. And can I ask why did you sign up for something you know you
could not afford you must have had to pay a 30 dollar life time membership fee, plus they give you a book no might I say a novel of information about them there company where to look up the company to make sure there a reputable company. So I am sorry to say but I am sure you knew you knew enough about the back up order and when they send them. Why did you becaome a preferred customer and go by base pionts if you only wanted to order a couple things a month. Sorry but I like the products and fully do
not think this company rips people off.
My suggestion ask what you are paying for and why they want a card before signing papers and handing it out to people because you do sign before you become a member. By they way did you like your back up order.
