I was contacted by a phone sales person ... I only answered the call because I have MCI Worldcom long distance service and I thought this was the same company. I agreed to try out the phone service after being led to believe that free nationwide long distance was included in the monthly minutes.
When I received the phone, I found they had lied about the nationwide long distance. The "Acceptance Agreement" which arrived with the phone stated that to agree to the terms of the contract and initiate service, all I had to do was turn on and use the phone once. I chose not to do this.
When I contacted Worldcom Wireless I was placed on hold for a total of SIX HOURS before I spoke with anyone. I had to fax them a copy of THEIR Acceptance Agreement to prove that I did not agree to the terms of the contract because I never turned on or used the phone.
Finally, I returned the phone (at my expense) via FedEx so that I have confirmation they received the d**n thing.
I am still getting billed from these losers ... and getting threatening letters that my "overdue bill" will be sent to a collections company.
Any advice on how to further report these people to the authorities would be greatly appreciated. While it appears nothing illegal has taken place (with the exception of the lies I was told regarding the long distance charges), this is certainly an unethical company, and the continued issuance of threatening letters qualifies, in my mind, as harassment.
