My wife and i purchased a Maytag Neptune washer and dryer in 1999. After we washed 3 loads the machine quit working. We called the dealer we bought it from and he said he didnt know how to work on the new machines and we should call the factory.

After a few days we got a call from another dealer, who said he would try and fix it. Finally a man came and he talked to the factory rep on the phone while he was trying to fix the machine. He was here all day and finally got the washer working. We use the washer and dryer usually once a week and do one load. For the last year we have had to listen to the squeel of the machine when its in the spin cycle.

Our local dealer said we need a new tub and bearing. The cost is $400 plus the cost of picking up the machine and labor of replacing the tub. we have found out this is a big problem with the neptune. We wish we had bought a cheaper make instead of paying $2000 for this set. We are very unhappy and no one from Maytag could care less. We are both 76 yrs old and can't afford to fix the machine.
