We also got a phone call from Travelbridge, actually several phone calls, because I was not interested in coming to one of their presentations. I finally gave in because it was so annoying to get all those calls. They told me on the phone they are a new travel agency in the Austin area and they just wanted to introduce us to their great services and deals. They told me "no timeshare, no selling of anything". So I actually thought I was visiting a regular travel agency. When my husband and I arrived there we noticed there were mostly elderly couples (we are 41 and 43). They had that multimedia sales show which was very impressive. When after the presentation the sales person came to our table I told him I thought this wasn't the right thing for us, because we have to small children (6 and 8 years old), therefore neither the time nor the money to do much traveling. Well, then he told us we still could take advantage of the associate status by earning all those great commissions and we could take our children with us and so on... They definetely make you believe, that with them you get the same rates as a regular travel agent, which, as it turns out, is not true. We wanted to sleep over it but they told us right away how much more expensive it would be if we didn't buy in today (I don't remember how much). They finally talked us into it and we were gullible enough to pay the impressive amount of $ 5,640,00. This was in October 2001. Just a short time later we heard about a TV report (Fox 7 on your side) about a travel agency scam. For some reason I knew right away it was Travelbridge. I checked it out on the TV channel's website and sure enough I was right!! I immediately filed a complaint with the BBB and was appalled to learn that the Attorney General of Texas has filed a law suit against Travelbridge. My next step will be to call Travelbridge to get a statement from them and then to file a complaint with the Attorney General. I am so mad! We really can't afford to spend $ 5.640.00 on a scam like that and we are trying to get our money back! Click here to read other Rip-off Reports on TravelBridge
