Hello.

Well I learned my lesson.

I hope anyone reading this learns my lesson as well.

Do not use any provider of any service without Googling them and checking them on Ripoffreport.com.

I looked AFTER my situation and found out what I wish I had known before I began.

After a few visits of Physical Therapy, each time being left in a room with a heat pack, on my naked skin, and watching Matt Clark PT aka Matthew Clark PT of Horizon Rehabilitation Physical Therapists, go from patient to patient without washing his hands or wearing gloves, not only did I get burnt, but I broke out in what I thought was a rash.

I showed it to him and he poo-pooed it saying it could not have come from him or his services.

Today I had boils break out on my back.

I went to my MD who told me that these heat packs are not in boiling water, but are in hot water, and are not hot enough to kill bacteria or viruses. Worse yet, my MD said the water is perfectly hot to grow bacteria and viruses!!!

And if these heat packs get used from patient to patient without being washed off with Sterole, (spelling?) an anti -microbial liquid that can kill HIV, and it takes 15 minutes for the substance to work, a patient can transfer his dermatologic disease from to another.

My MD is hoping I just have a topical skin infection from the non -sterile conditions and that the Keflex my MD gave me will cure it, but my MD said that the patterns of the blisters, which I wrongly called boils, could be SHINGLES!!!!

I never had shingles before and I am in pain, and it is caused by Herpes Zoster virus, and can be transmitted from one person to another!

So low and and behold while Googling Matthew Clark, PT and Matt Clark, PT, and Hilton Head Physical Therapists, and Horizon Rehabilitation Physical Therapists and Therapy, I came across other complaints of being left in the room alone, or being burned with heat packs, and being ignored, and having questions being rudely shoved aside.

For legal reasons I cannot state for certain that the cause of my problems are from the treatment as described above. My MD is very sure. So I am not accusing the above of malpractice at this point in time, or any wrong doing, at this point in time.

But what I am saying is please make sure you check references from many sources before going to doctors or allied health care workers, and just because one is 'nice' or donates to your local charity, is not a good reason to decide to visit one.

Thank you and I hope this doesn't happen to you.

Oh,,,,a horizon is an imaginary line that you think you see but you never can reach....quite an odd name for a place that is supposed to set a definite goal for your health and to get you better. One never reaches the horizon and has to keep going and going and going.

#2General Comment

I cannot comment on the veracity, or the possible ulterior motive, of the virulently negative report filed against Matt Clark, PT, but I can say that the report is totally inconsistent with the personal experience that I have had over many years with Mr. Clark. This particular PT worked very hard for several years to help me to fully recover from a serious bike accident. During the course of the many months of therapy in his offices, I received the highest degree of care imaginable, and - in addition - during those many months of treatment, I observed Mr. Clark caring for his patients in a very positive and constructive way.

#3UPDATE EX-employee responds

Wed, October 01, 2008

I was going to let this whole episode rest and chalk up my pain, suffering and medical bills to me being not a wise consumer and not checking Matt Clark and Horizon Rehabilition and Physical Therapy before I went to them. But seeing that Matt Clarks denies that I even exist or that I was injured, which he is well aware of, has left me with no choice but to write another time, and to hire an attorney, to put my issues into the public record. I am not the same patient that Mr Clark burnt once, but indeed another second patient that he also burnt in the same week. So if we posted in the same week and left Mr. Clark in the same week, that is not a sign of no one being burnt, but a sign of the frequency in which Mr Clark burns and injures. I have three doctors on Hilton Head who saw my burns and the blisters that spread over my body, and were first diagnosed as severe burns from the heat pack and then as a viral infection that entered the wounds from the burns from the heats pack that my doctors believe was not sterilized properly. This was placed on my naked back. The other patient in another post was luckier than I, as he was wearing a T shirt, when the heat pack was placed on him, or he could have ended up as bad as I did. My doctors who will testify ,and their records show the above, are Dr J----J----, a surgeon and internal medicine specialist, of Hilton Head, Dr. P-----, a dermatologist from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and Dr. D----, of Hilton Head. Dr D___ had to re start my PT as what was done to me was the opposite of what was needed. All 3 saw my back immediately after Matt Clark's treatment of me, and I have incurred their medical bills, pharmacy bills, as I was put on various anti biotics, anti fungals, anti virals, and anti inflamatory medicines, in both pill and cream form. Plus I have family and friends who were witnesses to my burns, pain, suffering, and the blistering get worse and worse and the days and weeks went on. And all this was happening while I was still in the pain that I went to see Matt Clark for the begin with, which got worse and not better!! A simple apology from Mr Matt Clark would be all that was needed. Instead he denies that I even exist and that nothing even happened to me!! He is denying that anything happened to the other patient also. Medical auxillaries like Mr. Matt Clark can make errors. Patients can be forgiving. But to cover them up and deny they even happened is unethical. To cover them up when one has other medical doctors as witnesses is frightening. Burned for real!!

I don't know how to respond, this NEVER happened, most likely same author as other report

This report is challenging to speak to due to the fact that it NEVER happened. I run a very small office with only 4 therapist. Due to seeing such a small volume it is inconceivable that I forgot about an incident such as this. It is pure fiction. The only conclusion I can draw is that it was placed on this web site by the same person who placed the other false claim. I have been practicing therapy for over 13 years now and have never had an article written about me on this web site so 2 claims in a week make me think that it is the same person. In general, we use heating pads with some frequency. As all therapists realize, they are an important part of relaxation and tissue prep that help our actual treatments be more effective. We have used the same procedure in our clinic for the past 2 1/2 years w/o incident. No burns, no complaints, no rashes. We continue to use this same procedure since this complaint still with no burn, rashes, or complaints. Despite having a 98.6% pt satisfaction rating, there are at times when it is difficult to please a patient. We do try our very best but obviously there are times when a patient leaves dissatisfied and feels the need to fabricate stories such at these. I would just challenge the author to use their name and sign the report in order to stand behind it rather than sign with "upset in hilton head". Sound like a very cowardly way to handle your disputes. In closing, I was not going to respond to this post at all, due to it inaccuracies but thought you should hear the other side of this from me. If you would like to see the clinic in action, come by any time and you will see dedicated, well trained professionals who only care about improving your health and restoring your function.
