I am a single mother with two kids. We've been living with my parents for 16 months since my separation. After a 12 year marriage, I have two wonderful children to keep happy and a $19,000 debt that I should not be accountable for. Suffice it to say, being a full time parent while supporting my girls and myself is overwhelming.

As challenging as this scenario already was, over 7 months ago my new mini van was hit while legally parked outside of my job. The course of events surrounding my insurance claim was plagued with deception, mostly on the part of the body shop.

To brief you on the unethical business practices of Major Automotive and Truck Repair 520 Main Street Westbury, L.I., New York 11590 (516) 338-4000 a.k.a. G.C. Auto Diagnostic, Inc., a.k.a. Major Collision, I will chronologically disclose the events.

Originally the estimate was for eight days for repairs at a price of $5,431.89 but they kept my car longer, first for twenty-one days and an additional $771.10 and then for another sixteen days.

Upon the "so called" completion of the repair and the return of my vehicle, I found that the van was not repaired properly, neither cosmetically nor mechanically. When having gone to a professional insurance adjuster along with 3 GEICO approved repair technicians, reviewed the original estimate and assessed the status of my van after the repair, they found that between $3400 - $3800 worth of repairs was not done. I have estimates from two GEICO bodyshops to corroborate this evidence.

After market parts were utilized and my windshield, which was not even damaged at the time of the accident, was apparently broken by the bodyshop, added to the estimate, and repaired in a makeshift manner.

The van has been running poorly ever since this ordeal. This van is my livelihood and is relied upon to safely transport my two girls to and from school, to the doctor's office, work, and anywhere else necessary. I don't have the financial means to expedite any more repairs so I'm trying to hold the bodyshop accountable and eventually find myself driving a vehicle I can rely on once again.

With no financial means to sue the bodyshop in civil court, I filed a small claim against the bodyshop for the maximum of $3000. Although a judgment was made against them in my favor, the owner is using fraudulent methods to avoid accountability.

My first priority is what's in the best interest of my two daughters and my own safety. Secondly, being that I am a very ethical and responsible individual when conducting business, it was deplorable how I was dealt with in return in this case. If justice serves I will not only end up with a safe vehicle, but this automotive business will be stripped of its potential to victimize another unsuspecting consumer and motorist.

Thank you in advance for your kind consideration regarding my case. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Lori
