Hi, I was a loader at Lowes, and have been working there for over 4 yrs. They hired a few new part time loaders, and I was kidding with one loader and patted him on the arm and he told me if I touch him again he'll kick my butt. So I touched him in the forehead.

Then later I went to lunch and got a phone call from one of the managers ,and told me not to do that again. I hung up and got mad. There were some other employees there too and I said when I get back off lunch I'm going to tell him to not speak or come near me again.

So later the store manager calls me in the office and told me what the other employees told him, that I was going to kick the new loader's butt. I tried to tell him it wasn't true but he shut me out and said I was fired on 8/18/03 at 8:30 pm.

There is really not enough information here, but I'll take a shot

The situation would be worse, if you quit your job. When you resign, you walk away from all of your Rights as an American Employee. Since you were terminated, your area Employment Office might have some options for you. There are requirements that have to be met, with specific job occupations, and the nature of a given business. If what you're saying is true, it is not a good idea to broadcast the situation, because you might hinder any possible options to start over, restore your reputation, and preserve a good work history. You might reconsider calling your employer back with an apology for his perceptions of your being "out-of-line". This is not necessarily admitting to the behavior, but still lends respect to your superior. I really think you need to mend the fences with your employer, even if he does not rehire you. You have to salvage his reference for your work record. This is one of those situations where two sides of the story are necessary to determine an equitable outcome. Irregardless, you have to work this out so that it does not happen again. This is not to assume, you really are a tyrant, but just in how to handle work-related conflicts. Whether or not the other employees were lying, when they complained to your boss is irrelavent. You have to determine what actions were taken to lead you to that point. In your Report, you sound angry, young and understandably upset, but to really know you is not possible in this type of venu, here at the Rip Off Report. All that we have is a few paragraphs and a name. Talk to your General Employment Agency, along with friends and family. Be careful with taking advice from strangers, INCLUDING ME, who may not know what is best for you. I also want to WARN you, that with filing your Report here, there are people who think they can be a good judge of character based on a two paragraph Report. It is impossible, but they will try. Your resolution to this problem can only be dealt with, in YOUR OWN locality, where you can network and communicate face to face. No matter who is right or wrong, try to salvage something from the experience to grow from, and I'm sorry I have nothing else to offer. Take care and be careful out there.
