Due to a car accident I had a couple of months ago, I am currently shopping for a good used vehicle. One of the cars I am thinking of buying is a 2000 or newer Toyota Celica.

Today (August 5th), I was looking on autos.recycler.com to see if they had any new ads in for a Toyota Celica. I found this ad:

FOR SALE

Year 2000

Price $9495

Ad Text: 2000 TOYOTA CELICA GT, auto, air, tilt, c.c, full pwr, cass CD, snrf, alloys, lk new, U18956 $9495, 1 Dealership In The World - LONGO TOYOTA

Considering that most 2000 Toyota Celica's sell for about $11,000 or more buying from a private party (which is cheaper than a dealership), I was wondering how a dealership could be offering a loaded Celica at such a great deal, so we called Longo Toyota. We figured it must be a salvage title or must have extremely high mileage to be offered as such a low price.

We were connected to the sales department, and my boyfriend spoke to a saleslady (while I listened in). My boyfriend told him he was inquiring about the car, and the lady gave him the runaround by asking him to come in and look at it, etc. She kept yacking and yacking, obviously trying to get us to see the car in person. My boyfriend stood his ground and told her he wanted to know two things- if the title was clear, and the mileage. She informed him that the title was clear, but that it would take her 10-15 minutes to check the mileage and that she would "need to call him back". Obviously she wanted a phone number for future sales pitches. My boyfriend told her instead that he would call HER back in 10-15 minutes, but she said "hold on", and that she would be back in a couple of minutes. It's funny because within a couple of minutes the lady came back on the phone saying that a lot of people had called and inquired about the car, and that it had been sold, but that they had ANOTHER 2000 Celica just like it in the lot for $19,000!

Might I add, underneath the $9495 ad by Longo, there was ANOTHER Celica ad just below that reading:

FOR SALE

Year 2000

Price $0

Ad Text 2000 TOYOTA CELICA GT, auto, full pwr, cass, CD, snrf, alloys, lk new, certified, U18956 $call, 1 Dealership In The World - LONGO TOYOTA

Funny how there's two different ads for supposedly two different cars from the same dealership, yet they happen to be the same exact color with the same exact features and have the same exact id number (U18956).
