Jean Mars provided bad service. She is one of the interior decorators that Direct Buy of DuPage County refers to it's members per their request. It was very clear to us that she had not prepared or given much thought to our design requirements. Her presentation was off strategy and she offered us no recommendation or solutions to address the contemporary style that we are seeking for our home.

Per the contract, she was going to provide floor plans with the size of the furniture pieces per room including dimensions and provide color recommendations for our entire house. That's why she was hired. We requested that she focus on certain rooms for window treatments only.

To date, Jean has not provided the services as stated per the contract.

Floor plan-your contract states that you're suppose to create a furniture floor plan for our entire home. She took pictures of every room and took a copy of the builder's floor plan. She showed up with dining room furniture from the same collection as our bedroom (she was not involved with furniture selection at all). She recommended a piece from the collection and it was too big for our dining room. However, we are not in the market for dining room furniture and she was told that we would be selecting our own furniture at first meeting. She showed up at our home without the floor plans and told me it's going to cost more money for her to create what we've already paid for.

Paint Colors-You bring in a swatch book and through trial and error we guessed about what colors might look good. When my husband expressed concern about the kitchen color she had no other suggestions besides try it.

She recommended a series of dark red colors for the office that has indirect light when I specifically stated that we did not want dark colors in the rooms with indirect light and that I did not like red paint for walls because she had previously proposed it for the bedroom.

She recommended colors for the bedroom without looking at the furniture wood sample from Direct Buy.

Window treatments-I stated that the living and dining room windows were going to be formal and she shows up with plastic/wood blinds. As a matter of fact she recommended plastic/wood blinds for the 3 out of 4 bedrooms, living and dining rooms. She recommends window treatments for rooms that are not outlined per the contract?

Her limited knowledge about the Hunter Douglas Skyline product was shocking since she recommended the line to us. I had to educate her about the product and that should not be the case.

Powder room-Our style is contemporary yet she brought traditional wallpaper for the powder room.

We lost $900 and valuable time. She did not come close to fulfilling the contract. After our second meeting, it became clear that she is not qualified to provided service beyond the same old look that she presents to all her clients. Dark paint colors on walls and overpriced drapes as displayed by her book of work. She's has performed work directly for Direct Buy and the owner so when I complained they were "surprised" and stated they would follow-up. They also stated that Jean is so customer focused that she would be giving me a call. Never heard from her but since I stopped payment on my second check I didn't think that I would.

I would like to start off with saying, Thank You Jean! Words cannot express how you have turned my house into a "Home". Jean was recomended to me through a friend and at first I was leary because I just didn't think anyone could truly understand what I was looking for in a home. Plus I really didn't think I could explain what I wanted because I really wasn't sure myself. Well, I invited Jean over to see the house and try to give her an idea about my style. It was almost like Jean just "Got It". She started showing me pictures and samples of fabrics and colors. She was actually opening my eyes to things I never would of thought of. We hit it off and I felt like I've known her for years. I have a few more rooms to finish and can't wait to see the outcome. Jill Chicago

Hi, I just have to say that I am so lucky to have met Jean personally before actually Googling Litmars and finding this website. I think it is truly unfair to have such a write up on someone like the one posted here. I have to believe that with all the great comments made by the Direct Buy staff and by my own satisfaction working with Jean - that sometimes, angry people are just angry people and can never be satisfied. That said I would like to share my experience with Jean Mars of Litmars Ltd. I joined Direct Buy in hopes of finally finishing my home. Like most homes, I had a few pieces of furniture, a simple color on my walls and some family photos on the walls. What I really wanted was a MODEL HOME! The kind you walk into that are warm and inviting. I wanted to stop thinking about and shopping endlessly for draperies and accessories yet never making a final decision. I just wanted to be done. Well, if you've ever been to Direct Buy, yes the pricing is terrific ...but the options are endless and I felt lost again. I happened to be talking about my situation to one of the employees of Direct Buy and she immediately introduced me to Jean. I was a little intimidated because she was an interior decorator and from what I knew that meant spending lots of money!!! But, what Jean offers is a whole new set of rules when it comes to how she helps you design. Jean had made several trips out to my home to bring several different types of color samples for my walls, fabrics and furniture. I am very happy with the services she provided to me and feel very comfortable calling her with questions. She created a color plan, floor plans and drapery ideas and assembled them into a portfolio that you could work with at your own speed. You are not required to purchase every item right away so that she can get paid...there is no pressure! I have my book and I purchase the items at my own pace. Thanks, Jean! My husband and I bought a new home and we needed all new furniture and window treatments. We bought a membership in Direct Buy so we could stretch our budget. At our first Visit to Direct Buy we noticed sitting on one of their tables a business card holder and the cards were for Litmars Limited. We contacted the decorator, Jean Mars, and ask to set up an interview with her as we were looking for decorator assistance. We met with Jean and felt instant rapport and hired her on the spot. No one at Direct Buy recommended her services to us, or influenced us in any way. She promptly proceed to draw up a floor plan and make furniture and window treatment suggestiions. She listened to our needs and wants very carefully and stayed within our agreed upon budget guidelines. Her talents continuously amazed us and she exceed all of our expectations at every turn. Jean is creative. innovative, experienced and highly ethical. she is a careful listener and she created for us a home we love to live in every day.
