Liberty Online Services ripoff Bell Through HBS Billing Service Cincinnati, Ohio
We had a charge to our business phone for $29.95 - billed through a company HBS Billing Service for Liberty Online Services. The Billing date was 2/13/03 - we received the bill on 3/15/03 meaning we have probably been billed again.
We did not know what the service was and when we finally reached someone, we were told that I authorized the service. This is completely untrue and the customer care representative tried to tell me that I had given them a date of importance to prove the authorization. The date was one that holds absolutely no significance to us. I was told a manager would call me Monday morning.
I called again Monday and spoke to a "Customer Care Manager". I asked what the service was and was told it was for a web-site - which we already have and wouldn't need a second - on-line yellow page directory (also something we cancelled in Jan. due to no response from our phone service provider) and unlimited access to the web (something I pay $50.00 a month for now with another company, DSL line)
He than played me an unintelligible recording of someone asking questions but the respondant (who was supposed to be me) was not heard and a bogus date was repeated. I asked for a copy of the confirmation and was denied. He finally gave me his name, position and employee ID number and told me that I would receive a credit for the past two months.
When asked when I would see the credit he said in 1 to 2 billing cycles! I told him it needed to be immediately. I did get a confirmation # for cancellation of the service. We'll see if the credit comes through. I am not paying that portion of my phone bill.
