LG Electronics LG Appliances New, top appliance can't be bought! Internet, Internet
Consumer Reports lists the LG Gas Dryer Model LG DLGX3886 [W or C] as a top-line, recommended model. It sounds good to me, so I'm off to buy it . . . But it cannot be found!
It's not on-line with the listed dealers - Sears, Best Buy, or Home Depot. I ask the local folk and they cannot find it . . . . So I use the online emails to contact LG. Instead of the model I asked about, they returned:
"Regretfully, the model DLGX3361W has been discontinued and the replacement model is the model DLGX3471W available in our authorized dealers like Home Depot, Best Buy or Sears."
Note the model number -- the 34-series is newer than the 33-series, but I am asking about a 38-series.
So I use the phone number given to contact LG's customer service. First, the made unseemly demands to get my phone number after I declined to give it. All I wanted to know is how to find this model; I did not want to give up my phone number and declined to do so. I asked again and again about the model -- finally the first guy says, "This is a special model and I have to transfer you."
I get the second person and again I get the demands for a phone number, to which I replied "No!" Then I said, "I just want to know about the freaking model." The guy has the nerve to tell me that my language was inappropriate! I told him that my language WAS appropriate and if he could not give me information about this clothes dryer model, he should pass me on to someone who could. He put me on hold for FIVE minutes - and then hung up on me!
I think Consumer Reports got scammed. If LG cannot say, "Model 3886 was replaced by", and it cannot be found on eBay, on line anywhere, there is something fishy going on. Furthermore, their customer service contact is craptastic!

I did a Google search and found several places selling this dryer.
