I am thinking of buying a 1989 Toyota Camry 4WD sedan from a friend, but its shocks/struts are totally worn out. The car acts like a bungey cord on some roads and bottoms out and the rear end sways.

My friend paid 977.00 two years ago at Les Schwab for complete stut work, which was guaranteed for life as long as she still owns the car. So, at her request, I took it in to have the "warranty" work done. I was told I would be called if there were any other problems. When I called them a couple of hours later, I was told that they would be glad to replace the struts, but that they couldn't do that until they repaired some "broken" parts first. And, it would cost 860.00!

I was so outraged when I went in to pick the car up that I didn't even look at the estimate sheet. Later, I decided to read it, and was shocked to see that 495.40 of the 860.00 total was for "brake sales". "Broken parts?" How very odd, indeed. Especially when it should be known that I personally spent $759.00 on a complete brake job front and rear last Saturday at Big O Tire Center.

What the hell is Les Schwab trying to pull? One of the employees there even had the nerve to tell me to "drive it straight home, park it, and don't drive it again until it is fixed, because you have broken parts and the car is dangerous." Yes, it is dangerous because your crappy strut/shock work has gone bad and the car bounces up and down like a bungey cord. Buyer beware when you are considering taking your car in to Les Schwab here in Paradise, CA
