I bought a pair of glass for my grandson, paid 153.95 no problem.

We went to the sea shore the next day just got there and went to stand in the water before you know it a wave came and nocked his glasses off his face they were lost.

So the next day we went back to lenscrafters and told them the story they didnt care.

She told us to pick out another pair so I said what can you do for me she said nothing I told her i have been buying glasses here for years, she didnt care.

I ended up paying for a nother pair she could of least charged me for a broken pair.

How in the world is it LensCrafters' responsibility for a pair of lost glasses? It is unfortunate that you lost your grandchild's glasses, but not compensating you for losing them at the beach hardly qualifies as a ripoff.

This is a really sad posting - being upset with the staff for not discounting glasses since you lost them in the water I think it is clear here that everyone feels that you are so wrong - with your anger and feeling ripped off - i esp think that a prev post hits the nail on the head - when he says go independent. IT is almost clear YOU WILL HAVE PAID MORE for that 1st pr - and maybe they can give you a discount on the replacement - HOWEVER THE FOLKS AT LC DO NOT OWN THE STORES - SO THEREFORE THEY DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO GIVE A DISCOUNT SOMEONE DOES NOT DESERVE _ YOU SUGGEST in your post YOURSELF for them to be dishonest - and say they where broken - and cover them under the replacement discount - and this shows in your post YOU ARE NOT A HONEST person - asking someone else to place their JOB in jeopardy - to benefit you - ? DId you ever think about that ? THey have no right to discount anything more then what is in the Rules - and for you to imply they should - SHAME ON YOU - i would not want you working for my company !! If you did you would be out of your job - just like they would be - this is clearly - a integrity issue - as well as COMPANY THEFT - and that is how they would and SHOULd look at it - !! With todays times - WE ALL MUST play by the rules - to keep our JOBS - what do others think here ?

this had nothing to do with customer service.

Losing the glasses had nothing to do with customer service. expecting a biz to give or sell her a $150 set of glasses for a lot less is dumb. Knocking off maybe 10% maybe...but more than that would not be realistic. If I lose a IPOD at the beach, should I get major discounts on replacement??? No, unless I have insurance that might replace it. in fact, I actually do, but I rarely put in claims because it would increase the premium way too much...so I only do high $$ items

U lost the glasss on your own... no business is responsible for you losing or damaging their product after purchase, unless u bought product insurance of some sort. If they had been nice, they could have sold u a cheaper pair or a pair thats been repaired... but they had no reason to help you. Like any biz, they are in the business to sell product, and should not be accountable to stuid actions of customers. Stupid in that if you knew you were going to a beach or whatever, you should have pocketed or stored the glasses in the car or somewhere.

Americans have sent the message to the mega retailers that if the price is right customer service isn't important.

Carol, I suggest fostering relationships with small business owners as often as possible. While I don't see a rip off in your report I do understand your desire for preferential treatment, given the circumstances and your history as a cutomer of Lenscrafter.(I'm going to take a beating for that one) I've purchased glasses and contact lenses from Lenscrafter stores in several locations and have been satisfied with the quality and price but now I spend a little extra with an indepedent optometrist who wants and NEEDS my business. When given the option I prefer to do business with the independents. The guy who owns my local video store gets a lot of free advertising because he knocked a couple $$ off my late fees when I forgot to return a movie not to mention the convienient stores, coffee shops ect.. Unfortunately these businesses' are fewer in number because Americans have sent the message to the mega retailers that if the price is right customer service isn't important.

I don't get it. You bought a pair of glasses. They were fine when you left the store with them. You lost them. And you expect the company to do what? Give you another pair for free? Give you a discount? Where's the rip-off? If you buy a product - any product - and lose it after you leave the store, the company that sold it to you has no obligation to replace it for less than the retail cost. If you lost a watch, would you expect the jeweller to replace it for free or at a discount? If you parked your car too close to the shore & the tide came in & damaged it or swept it away, would you expect the dealer to be on the hook for a replacement? I recently lost a brand-new pair of glasses somewhere along the way on a cross-country trip (I only use them for reading, so I didn't notice they were missing until I went looking for them to read a book on one leg of the trip). I now have to go back & buy another pair. That's the way it works; Buffalo Optical isn't in any way responsible for my own stupidity. And Lenscrafters isn't responsible for yours. Just because you're annoyed that you have to buy another pair of glasses does not mean you were ripped off.
