Wow! It sounds like that store could use some guidance. I'm 27 and been employed with Lenscrafters since i was 19 and i can tell you i usually read these and stick up for the company because i think it is a great company to work for. In your particular case, i don't know if the people were new or just didn't care about their job but they didn't handle your case in a very good manner. (obviously) First of all, we had that sale too and, just as the associate even said herself, AAA discounts cannot be combined with other offers. Therefore, why she calculated that in your price of the frame beforehand and then not allowing you your free lenses is beyond me. It sounds like she was confused or did not know what she was doing. If your frame was $180 and you were getting the standard Duralens lenses than you should have only had to pay $180. As for the PD measurement, there is an issue in taking that due to the fact that if you wanted to purchase online, than Lenscrafters cannot be liable to an incorrect Pupillary distance measurement. However, to go as far as they did is ridiculous. I've done this for people before just as the other store did and explained to them that we cannot be held liable since we are not making the glasses. (Usually it is correct anyways but since it is taken with a machine, there is always the possibility of error.) Anyhow, i'm sorry that you had a bad experience with that store and it discouraged you from Lenscrafters. As i said before, I think it is a great company and lucky to have loyal customers like you. Hopefully you will find a way to give us a second chance in the future, maybe just at a different location.

This is FYI. Here in the Pacific northwest there are stores that will double manufacturer coupons (up to a stated amount), and run their own sale. Common situation is to buy an item in a grocery store on sale, uses a cents-off manufatourer coupon, and then have the store match that. Or, even using a manufcturer coupon, I can still get my senior discount at some stores. Not all places do this, but neither is it a rarity.

Whenever there is a promotion at any store you choose to visit, why can't you be responsible to read the fine print? The promotional signs, flyers, etc speficially stated that it couldn't be combined with other offers. What place do you shop that allows you to combine discounts? I'd really like to shop there. You do understand that businesses are there to make money, right? Providing you with the service you need is the number one goal, but ultimately a publicly held company like Lenscrafters is there to be profitable and responsible to its stockholders. Don't kid yourself, that's why they're there. I have never understood people like you that have this sense of "entitlement". You come into the store, expecting to get away with 30% off for your AAA AND free lenses? Come on. How do you think they pay for the space in the mall, all the opticians (whom you expect to perform PD measurements for free) and sales people, and the service of getting glasses to you in an hour? How about free adjustments, minor repairs, etc.? That's what you're paying for. If you choose to go to an online site that's essentially giving the glasses away, remember that you get what you pay for. No service at all, no store to try anything on in, and I hope you're skilled enough optically to measure, dispense and fit your own glasses. Good luck with your online eyeglass experience, you're going to need it.
