LEGACY LD INTL INC Scamming phone charges without notice. consumer fraud ripoff Long Beach California
While calling home from a motel in Tucson, AZ, I used my telephone calling card. After dialing the 800 number and my personal phone card number, a man who did not identify himself came on the line. I told him I was using a calling card number to call home. He said okay and the phone rang. There was no answer. I later called home about an hour later using the same scenario and was put through and talked about five minutes.
When I received my phone bill, there was a page from Zero Plus Dialing, Inc., billing company for a LEGACY LD INTL INC. There were 4 charges on this billing. A UNIV SERV FD for $3.36, a charge for 3 minutes (the incompleted call) for $16.80, a charge for 6 minutes for $20.10, and Federal Taxes for $1.21. This comes to a total of $41.47 for one five minute phone call.
I contacted Zero Plus Dialing, Inc., who said they could remove $13.00 from the billing. I then contacted my telephone company who said they would remove the billing page from my bill if I wished to take care of this myself. I told them to do so.
I then filed a report with the Public Utilities Commission and then a report with the Better Business Bureau.
I am incensed that this company would try to rip off the public in this matter and would like it publicly known to put them out of business. There was neither any notice at the motel that additional charges would be added for the phone call, nor did the gentleman advise that I was being turned over to another phone company at the time I placed my call, so there is no way to for the public to know they are being scammed.
