Laurel Auto Reconditioning - Ed's USA Auto Rentals mis represented what was insured on a rental and what was not. ripoff Pottsville Pennsylvania
On January 28, 2006 I rented a Box truck from Ed's USA Auto rental. When filling out the paper work I was never told the insurance only covered part of the vehicle. Cab and undercarrage with stipulation not the box. Who takes insurance out on a home or car and only covers part of it? This was never explained and I was told it would cover collision.
Well while I had it i collided with a stationary dumpster parked at my home with the rt. lower portion of the box causing a tear in the metal. This to the tune of over $1,300.00, I was told this was not covered. I contacted my Ins. agent and he spoke to legal for my company and they said this was a very unethical practice of the rental company.
I was told I was ripped off and ended up paying. The lady at Ed's said this has happened before and they have won every case in court. They are not going over the contracts with the people who rent from them. The average person is not prepaired for these fine print clauses. I would like to ad this company to your data base. I have contacted the Pennsylvania Consumer Advocate and Ins. Comm.
