This scam targets every online commerce site ( i got hit by no more than 20 offers like this on the car I sold through craiglist) Its the oldest scam in the book. Been around since people started advertising high priced items for sale in the your classifieds. with the net however, these scammers have a wider audience to flim flam. Fell for it hook line an sinker didn't you? A little research on your part would have shown you that it was a scam Too bad, hard lesson to learn.

I couldn't completely follow your message, but from the looks of it, you went "off Ebay" when someone e-mailed you with something along a "Second Chance" offer, which is a current favorite scam. You have no Ebay protection because the deal was handled off Ebay (Unless you placed and won a bid on Ebay, it is off Ebay). You probably fell for the old "Escrow" or "Western Union" money transfer? Which means that money is gone. You saw good feedback, odds are that the feedback was all many months or years old, which means that it was a hijacked account.
