JK Harris And Company Ripoff Extremely poor service and unethical behavior Charleston South Carolina
I have been a JK Harris Customer for over 5 years and I still do not have my tax issue resolved. In fact, over the course of 5 years, even though I was supposedly represented by JK Harris, I have had my wages garnished a couple of times and each time it was extremely difficult to have the lien removed.
I have submitted paperwork over and over, been assigned to caseworker after caseworker, verbally abused by the receptionist, ignored, snowed, and ripped off by this company.
I paid them thousands of dollars in 2000 to submit on Offer in Compromise and have had a couple submitted (including the $150 IRS charge for each submission) only to have them disappear or get returned by the IRS because they were incorrectly filled out by JK Harris. Each time, a new caseworker would suggest starting over.
Recently, over 90% of my paycheck was garnished because I couldn't get JK to negotiate the release of the levy in time, even though they were already representing me, and the IRS gave a couple weeks notice of the levy. When I asked how the IRS came up with the amount they took, I was told by my caseworker that my representative (to whom I could never speak) negotiated the best rate possible. When I did some quick research on my own, I found out that JK used an incorrect standard of living expense, and actually did zero negotiation. The IRS ended up taking about $1000 extra out of my check because of miscalculation.
Now, after 5 years of frustration, stress, and embarrassment, JK Harris has just sent me the offer they are going to send to the IRS and it is unacceptable. The amount is about 66% of the original amount and one that I cannot come close to paying. They did nothing to coach me, aid me, or negotiate for me. They only took figures I sent them and added them to a report. And they don't even do that correctly as there have been may mistakes.
I sent a formal complaint to JK Harris via their vehicle to do so and I have never heard back.
I just read from a rebuttal from Kimberly in San Diego that she submitted a complaint to the Attorney General's office and that she was able to get her money back. I would love to get more details on how to go about that and if there are others out there who have successfully recouped some or all the costs associated with doing business (if that's what you call it) with JK Harris, I'd love to hear that, too.
