The following is the letter I received from: Donald R Lunberg Executive Secretary Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court STATE OF INDIANA 46204 April 1, 2002 Willard W Fayette 1372 West Axton Road Ferndale Washington 98248 Dear Mr. Fayette This letter is to advise you of the status of the grievance that you filed against attorney James F. Stephens on November 30, 2001. Mr. Stephens resigned from practice of law in the face of disciplinary action pending against him. A copy of the order of the court accepting Mr. Stephens' resignation, effective March 20, 2002, is enclosed for your information. Upon termination of representation, a lawyer shall take steps to the extent reasonably practicable to protect a client's interests, such as giving reasonable notice to the client, allowing time for employment of other counsel, surrendering papers and property to which the client is entitled and
refunding any advance payment of fee that has not been earned. The lawyer may retain papers relating to the client to the extent permitted by other law.

I received this e-mail and your certified mail today. I disagree with your statements. After you received a copy of the my letter response to your complaint to the BBB, you wrote a letter to the BBB to the effect that you had been rash, that you were satified with what I had done, and that I did not owe you anything afterall. I don't understand what you are trying to pull now. Everything I said in my letter to the BBB was true and I stand
behind it. You seem bent on hurting anyone and everyone associated with this frustrating case. You need to get over it. It is not right trying to repay evil with evil and you should stop. Do not contact me again unless it is to apologize. I don't want any more of your e-mails. You dismissed me as your lawyer several weeks ago. But you keep sending all this stuff to me. It is not your fault I got cancer and it is not my fault that the UPS broke your toy cars. Leave me alone!

There are steps to take when you believe you've been wronged by an attorney. Each state has it's own review board that considers complaints against attorneys. The board is made up of lawyers and non-lawyers.

Get your facts together. Make your written complaint very detailed and you must include the name of the attorney, address and phone number. Be specific: What did you hire hime to do? How much did you pay? What is your complaint?

Your state, Indiana, will not allow anonymous complaints. After the board received your complaint the attorney will have 10 to 25 days to respond.
